T.edford apparently claimed about a month ago that his linebackers coach, Kenwick Thompson, was offered the defensive coordinator position at Stanford this offseason: http://goo.gl/DPU7R

I'm leaning towards "probably untrue" because:
a) it's self-serving: allows him to claim two out of three ain't bad and minimize the impact of Lupoi leaving.*
b) these sorts of offers rarely get leaked anyway.

* (Speaking of the Lupoi leaving thing, I've been impressed by 59ers' fans ability to claim they've always been at war with Eastasia: the dominant strain of thought appears to be that Lupoi was actually a bad coach despite the team's recent record of sending linemen to the NFL and that they've upgraded by landing a coach from the mighty Wazzou Cougars.)

It would certainly be surprising for a linebacker coach to turn down a DC job at a school of comparable size and salary structure. Unless the 59ers are paying way more than their record suggests.
