Yes, the scientific name for the American bison is Bison bison.  In fact, the plains bison is Bison bison bison.

I'm pretty set for names until we get to the UDFG game, in which case I will have to become creative with a scientific name for "Fighting Irish", Leprechaun.  Or maybe I'll go with "Fingit amicam mortuum".  If anyone knows Latin (or pseudoLatin), please suggest.
