OT: Harbaugh pulls offer 2 weeks before signing day -

Surprised no one has posted this yet:

Quote:Swenson, a fourstar recruit, had been committed to Michigan since 2013. According to the report, Swenson said Michigan canceled his previously scheduled official visit, and subsequently pulled its offer without giving a reason.

Some more detail on the Swenson decommitment:

It is nice that Shaw is far more ethical than Harbs, I have to say.

Trying to stop the bleeding, I guess. Not even Saban gets this kind of burn from decommits/withdrawn offers, etc...

And another one, 3-star CB Antwaine Richardson:

Pretty clear that this is culling the class of 3-star guys (or lower 4-star guys) to make room for higher-ranked recruits.Â

The tweet was from Jan 3. I think it was in reference to the Niners. But it does apply...

Based on his final sentence, maybe it was an admissions ding.

I think BC was just noting that Harbaugh's own words with respect to the Niners might be applicable to his own current situation.

I thought I remembered a discussion about Harbaugh pulling this kind of stuff at Stanford, but Kain Colter wasn't the guy. Was there someone else this happened to?

I cannot remember if all of this is correct, but here is a summary of the 2010 attrition.

Yes, be careful of what you tweet, it could come back to bite you. May the karmic retribution against Harbaugh be swift and harsh.
Btw, saw a tweet from a Domer saying in essence that Harbaugh went back on his word to recruits and then was trying to get recruits committed to other schools to go back on theirs.... Then again, I'm not going to harsh on him for that since we are targeting some Texas commits. I'm sure, of course, that Notre Dame has never recruited a kid committed to another school.

I swear I was thinking the same thing, although now that I live in Detroit and have 100+ UM alum friends, I'm told that Harbaugh can get just about anyone he wants admitted. I'm guessing he just doesn't want three stars very much.

That writer is clearly not familiar with the other issue at Stanford: the admissions office, though it does at least get a mention. Of those listed, at least a couple were admissions dings, or fearing admissions dings. Some of them were cases of other places winning out - in particular the und guys if I remember correctly. And several were Stanford/Harbaugh coming up with better options. Many didn't get as far as an admissions decision - or even an application.
The most notable item is that in comparing notes from the various years back then and reports now at UM, we can discern Harbaugh's main method for dealing with the issue - simply quit talking to the guy. Somehow that feels more dishonorable than the actual dropping.
