Interestingly, Stanford's showing practice on Facebook live right now:

It was fairly boring to watch, but I couldn't help myself. I was surprised to see Marx hobbling around with his right leg fully braced and immobilized (~3:30). Did we know he was hurt? I hope it's not too bad, as that guy has had his share of bad luck already. He's an important component for sure.Â

If he's in a brace now, I would be guessing surgery or some such--if it was football-related. If it was personal hijinks-related, I could see how something recent could have cropped up.

Given I went to and posted a Spring practice report - on a very wet day - on here last year while visiting the state, and I won't be in the state for this year's Spring session... I'm now going to request that at least one person reading this attends the open practice on Saturday March 4 and provides a report on the Cardboard after.
Is this too much to ask?Â

Chryst apparently will be ready to go for summer training camp:

This timeframe seems incompatible with an ACL tear.

Perhaps we should consider the possibility that he's not human.

I have no medical training, never torn an ACL, but when I looked it up at the Mayo clinic website, it said this about recovery times from ACL injuries: "After surgery you'll resume another course of rehabilitative therapy. Successful ACL reconstruction paired with rigorous rehabilitation can usually restore stability and function to your knee. Athletes often can return to their sports after eight to 12 months." If Chryst had surgery in January, it is possible he might be ready to play in late August/early September. I won't make any predictions here on his return date, but I don't think we should rule out that Chryst will be ready to go against USC (we likely don't need him vs Rice, so why risk an early return).

My son tore his ACL in his senior year of HS football and was pretty much ready to go after 8 months so that timetable would seem realistic.

I hope Costello makes himself a legitimate candidate to win the starting job in Fall.
Re: Spring practice thread -

Was it ever officially confirmed that it was an ACL tear...? Just trying to remember.

I never saw an official confirmation of an ACL tear
Re: Spring practice thread -
BostonCard - 03-02-2017
No, ACL tear was never confirmed, just inferred based on mechanism of injury and timeframe for recovery. I'll let the orthopod on this board comment, but it still seems a bit quick for a recovery.

Alfieri is going to be "moving around a bit"; looks like the staff is looking to see if he can play inside.

What to Watch For In Spring Ball (email published by Stanford Athletics)
http://cardinal.gostanford.com/nl/jsp/m.jsp?c=4f47c8cad219e08da8
Reports from several positions -Â RB, OL, DL, Free Safety
Also a nugget that I was not aware of - Bryce Love played hurt this past season. It was tough to tell.
Also love reading that several recent players are back on campus to work on their degrees.
Quote: A trio of former Cardinal stars in their NFL off-seasons are back on the Farm enrolled in classes this winter quarter. Cheers to Alex Carter (psychology), Andrus Peat (psychology) and Ed Reynolds (political science) for chasing their degrees while living their NFL dreams.

2 INT's for Costello . . . please fix that quickly!Â

IIRC from observer' remarks one of the picks wasn't Costello's fault.
