Great news! But a terrific compliment for her to get heavy interest from them.

I was at the banquet but I bet Bob gathered more news than I did. I didn't pick up the Kate item there. Great to hear.
I was lucky enough to be at a table with two players this time, Marta Sniezek and Mikaela Brewer. Trainer Katelin Knox was at our table too.
One question people asked on the Cardboard was if Mikaela is still on the team -- answer is evidently yes.
I didn't really pick up anything else that's news. It was a very enjoyable banquet with lots of positive vibes.

Yes indeed. I have to believe that she turned them down rather than the other way around. Still, after 10 years without doing interviews, she was open to listening to their sales pitches, so she was curious at least.Â
Thank goodness we will keep her. I think having a superb, young, thoroughly Stanford-oriented heir-apparent on our staff should go a long way to soothing any worries recruits might have about Tara retirement rumors.

What ?? Tim got two players? I only had one and Ms Coffee was across the table so hard to converse with the noise. ðð³
Brewer is healthy working on her threes.Â
Knox is the niece of one of my best friends
Kate has interviewed per reports before This season and reports are turned down the USC job. That's from swish appeal. Â
Since Tara said "don't the players clean up well" I can add that and they were stunning.
McCall will be at the WNBA draft Thursday. It's on tv. She graduated last month
All three Srs may continue their playing careers
But more to come

Those "more to come" teases are starting to sound a little daunting, as in some really big news. Roster addition? Roster subtraction?? Coaching change??? Recruiting news????Â

Next year's schedule:
At Ohio State in Novemeber vs Ohio State and Louisville. UCon is the 4th team we don't play them.
Tennessee at Home
Thanksgiving Tournament in Las Vegas.

Why would you have to believe that. Apparently Bob has evidence that she declined the USC job, but why would it be hard to imagine that UW (or anyone else for that matter) might want someone with head coaching experience? Either way, glad in the short term that she is staying, but in the longer term, I wonder if we might not benefit from her becoming a (successful) head coach somewhere first and then coming back when Tara retires.

Why would an AD hire a new coach knowing he/she might leave when their real job opens?  That was my worry when she was interviewing
No clue if Kate interviewed at UW.Â
It is very interesting that neither UW nor USC has a head coach when LOI date starts tomorrow

Nice to see that we are playing other top programs that we hardly play: Louisville and Ohio State. I can't remember us playing either program in the last 10 years especially with the Cardinals being a top-tier team these last few seasons. I imagine it must be interesting for Tara to play her old team Ohio State, even though it's been a long time since she was their head coach.
Disappointing that we haven't restarted the annual UConn series, I enjoyed playing them every year even if most times they've beaten us.
I wonder who else is in the Vegas tournament

I think we played Ohio State when they had Jantel Lavender at center and we had Jayne Appel. What year would that have been...?

We played them in the Sweet Sixteen in the 09 NCAA Tourney (an easy 84-66 win). Lavender had 15 pts and 6 rebounds while Appel had 25 pts and 11 rebounds.

Evidently that's not the correct Las Vegas tournament linked. I'm trying to find out more or it's too early
We are going to Italy late summer

Between the Vegas tourney and the First Four, other than Tennessee will we be seeing any games at Maples prior to the conference season?

There's a nice post up at the
Fast Break Club about the banquet.
A few highlights:
Quote:[Tara] cited two more statistics to highlight how well the team meshed: It was the first team to go to the Final Four with no All-American player, and it had no Pac-12 Players of the Week.
Quote:She said guard Mikaela Brewer, who didnt travel with the team to the tournaments, can compete for a part in our rotation next season.
Quote:Guard Anna Wilson missed most of the season with injuries, but shes working to get healthy, Tara said.
Quote:Guard Brittany McPhee was one of the most improved players in the country, Tara said. Shes a gym rat and also a library rat, as attested by the Elite 90 award she won for having the highest grade point average among all players in the womens Final Four.
Quote:Taras final thank-yous went to her coaching staff, who joined her. Assistant Tempie Brown works with the male practice players, scouts upcoming opponents and coordinates recruiting. Those recruiting efforts have led to the No. 2 rated incoming class, Tara said.

Wow, sad news. Best of luck to Amy, who has been with Tara for over 3 decades.

This sounds a bit ominous. Is there a major housecleaning going on?

No. while I don't know the reasons it's not like Amy is going away.Â
Tempie named recruiting coordinator after Amy has been for 30 years. Kate associate head coach then interviewing but now back.
Now guesses as to the new assistant???
