JT Daniels is graduating after his junior year at Mater Dei to compete for the starting QB job in Toejam-Land.

I didn't know that was possible.Â
Interesting he once had Stanford on his radar.

Kodye Pugh reclassified a year ahead before joining our basketball team.
AFAIK it was a pure football decision. He will start day 1 for the condoms, who have a wide-open competition.

This isn't Superman. Just put him on his back early and often.

We will see if he will start. He would still be a true freshman. But it seems pretty clear that his motivation for going to SC early was to take advantage of the opening created by Darnolds departure to the NFL. Now he gets to compete for a starting job rather than having to unseat an incumbent if he came in next year.

Daniels just turned 18. FYI
Pugh was a Sr then announced 5th year. Then back to Sr so not the same as Daniels.Â
Now for the future we are recruiting the 2019/2020 Mobley Brothers for MBB and the younger might re clsssify to 2019

Always funny to see how these things work. Kids are held back in youth sports so that they can be older and bigger than their peers. Then, everything gets thrown into overdrive so that they can get to college and then the pros ASAP.

A lot of boys are held back for educational reasons. If he has a fall birthday it's probably that rather than sports.

Who knows, but if you read the article referenced above about him he has been working with a private QB coach since he was nine years old. Given that, I certainly wouldn't be surprised if were for sports.

My son has an October birthday and, at the time, would have been eligible for kindergarten when he was four-turning-five. His preschool teacher strongly recommended that we hold him back for social reasons--in fact, she recommended the same thing for the other fall birthday boys in his class. In any case, instead of being the youngest in his elementary school class, he's fourth-oldest, and it's definitely worked out for the better, IMO.
The sports leagues in which my son participates--Little League, club baseball, AYSO--set their divisions by age, not grade, even at the all-star level. Maybe it's different with football, though.

Papa John, FWLIW, I think you made a great decision. I was an October birthday and was skipped a grade, so was my father in law. We both agreed that if there was one "do-over" we could have in our life, it would have been that. I was a 16 year old high school senior, 17 as a frosh. My son was also born on the border, and even though my wife vehemently wanted him to start early, it's one of the few times in my marriage that I absolutely put my foot down, and it turned out for the best.
