Big Game Thread - Langdude - 12-01-2018

I'm hoping for a great last conference game for Bryce, to go out like the player he is.

I'm hoping for a great last conference game for Trent; he's given a lot in his four years.

I'm hoping that the OL will provide running lanes and protection for KJ against a very good defense.

And I'm hoping to see the young players give us a preview of next year.

If all that happens Santa will have come early this year.
I think the young players will give us a preview of next year, hopefully it's a good one.

Solid opening drive for Card. Toner from 26 yards out makes it 3-0 Cardinal.

RE: Big Game Thread - JPR36 - 12-01-2018

Well, we take the ball right down the field against the Kal defense.
Unfortunately we stall in the red zone and have to settle for a field goal.
Defense stops Kal in first series and we get the ball back. So far so good.

RE: Big Game Thread - stupac2 - 12-01-2018

That was a fun punt return, it's not often that much dancing around actually results in a positive gain.

All right offense, let's go down and get a TD here!

Jesus, Irwin is hurt now? This goddamned season.

RE: Big Game Thread - BostonCard - 12-01-2018

Yes!  Ok, we can turtle now.

Man that was some acceleration from Scarlett. I thought for sure he was going to get caught from behind for a still-nice gain, but that was awesome.

I'm curious if Costello was just really selling the fake screen to the other side or if it was the first option and he had to come off of it. Either way, awesome play.

10-0!

RE: Big Game Thread - BostonCard - 12-01-2018

Was that the first successful screen we’ve run all year?

Well, Irwin is just about the only player on the team that hasn't been hurt at one time or another this year, so I guess it makes sense.
Holey moley, now 10-0. I didn't expect this. Hope we can keep it up.

Hard to set up a screen on two sides of the field.

Kal is NOT a come from behind team unless we throw a pick 6.
Love is having a better day.

RE: Big Game Thread - d4cohn - 12-01-2018

Field Position so far has been rough for Stanford. But in spite of that, Card put up a dominant first quarter of offense with 162 total yards. Great mix in playcalling. Very effective against a very good D.

Yogi thinks this is the best Love has looked since USC. Can't say I disagree, so far everything's for positive yardage. He hasn't really broken one yet but it wouldn't be a surprise if he did.

Anybody remember the last time we lost to Kal (2009)? We jumped off to a quick two touchdown lead and it looked like it was going to be easy. Unfortunately, it wasn't.

RE: Big Game Thread - d4cohn - 12-01-2018

Early exit on that drive, coupled with an eh punt from Bailey, gives Cal the ball at their own 40.

Let's bury these bastards!

RE: Big Game Thread - d4cohn - 12-01-2018

Big 4th down here. We need this.

Cal adds 3, trims Cardinal lead to 10-3.

RE: Big Game Thread - thunder_chik - 12-01-2018

Irwin out with what looks like a knee injury.  Unfortunate...

RE: Big Game Thread - JPR36 - 12-01-2018

The offense seems to now have stalled. Not sure if Kal made adjustments or what.
Tough when two of your best three receivers are now hurt.
The game is playing out as advertised. Close and low scoring.

RE: Big Game Thread - stupac2 - 12-01-2018

Good job to hold them to a FG there, but we need to answer now. After running 3 times last drive maybe some play-action would work.

What is going on with all these false starts? Jesus.

What the ***** was that???

BC, I think you were right about the turtling.
