Lots of people on the outside waiting to get in, but the stadium itself features a lot of people dressed up as empty seats. Hopefully it will fill up as the slow pokes make their way inside.

That was a really awesome drive. Mills is the real deal, and I think Shaw has some special stuff dialed up for today.

Gorgeously executed play on the touchdown. Caught Cal trying to rotate to cover a blitz off the edge, with the deep safety way late to arrive to Stewart’s corner route. Didn’t see who picked up the blitz, but Mills seemed completely unbothered by it and hit the open receiver perfectly.

People at home, how did he get so open? I assume a safety covering him but on the play action, but didn't see it.

Smart call on the ensuing kickoff which was from the 50 due to a penalty. The squib forced Cal to return it and we stopped them at the 20.

Yeah the initial CB let him go and the safety came up to the shallow receiver as well.

Bad habits coming back... delay of game on first down means that the 11 yards we gained on the ensuing three plays were not enough for a first down. And we punt from our opponents 40 yard line.

Bummer that the delay was the difference between that drive ending and continuing. I kinda wish we'd ran on 3rd to make going on 4th more reasonable, but Cal is on their own 10 so not so too bad.

I hated that low-percentage play call on third down. We only needed four yards and we could have even thrown the ball short of the sticks and gone for it on fourth and short. Just try to get the first down. No need to throw the ball 10+ yards down the field.

Just like me, the Stanford defense is soft in the middle. The Modtser scramble from the 11 was the killer, and I knew it was a risk from how we lined up.

We seem to be unwilling to try to run between the tackles. I think that’s letting Cal pin their ears back and attack our passing game, which is nowhere near as effective as it was on the first drive.

I mean, he was in the grasp first, things look a lot different if that tackle gets finished. But yeah that sure turned the feel of this game around in a hurry, if we can't convert here things could get ugly.
