RE: WBB: We have a home - TheRicker - 01-04-2021

Welcome to my county.  I believe Haley will have a super game in her hometown.
If only there was a way I could attend the game.......

RE: WBB: We have a home - petersalas - 01-04-2021

That’s awesome and as much as I want to look at the positive... wish the game time was not changed... it’s so hard to be at work, record game and not try to see score before I get off work. But the game is being played and that’s the important thing.

RE: WBB: We have a home - 81alum - 01-04-2021

Any word on where in Santa Cruz?

I am betting it is the UCSC basketball facility that is located downtown, and is also the home for Warrior's G-league affiliate.

I thought I read KP Arena, which I think is the same? I can't find the source, though.

Good chance for this fabulous team to be the first to lose to WSU?

Spike - Spike - 01-04-2021

Yeah! My home town
Yes KP is Kaiser.
Great venue!

Yes, there is a chance.  It is a bad combination--playing them twice, two days apart, on their own court, just at the moment that they are beginning to surge.  And of course everyone will be studying CTT's defense from now on to see what worked at disrupting us.

my sentiments exactly. what the...? 2nd time we have a game scheduled for a weekday during the workday. who does that? in my experience only the lame pac-12.com.

RE: WBB: We have a home - BobK - 01-04-2021

I believe Santa Clara will also be playing in Santa Cruz. If so that’s four teams with games and practices. Oh and school soon.

RE: WBB: We have a home - BostonCard - 01-04-2021

This is so idiotic.

LA County is telling ambulances not to bring people with low likelihood of survival to the hospitals and to take steps to coserve oxygen:

And yet college sports is proceeding as if nothing is amiss, going so far as to avoid jurisdictions with inconvenient public health restrictions.  For goodness sakes, put the season on pause and resume it in April or May when we don't have 125,000 Americans hospitalized and our most vulnerable have been vaccinated.

RE: WBB: We have a home - chimera - 01-04-2021

WSU game added for next Wed, so two WSU games back to back, Wed and Fri that week.  Not sure where but I suspect both at WSU.  https://gostanford.com/news/2021/1/4/womens-basketball-schedule-shifts.aspx

RE: WBB: We have a home - TheRicker - 01-04-2021

Don't look now, but the same scenario of two games at WSU, might very well happen with Oregon State as well.

Always a chance.  But don't bet on it.

Missing the Covid board, eh?

How about everybody in the state stay locked in their rooms and don't come out until LA County gets its $hit together?

Zero cases.  In all the major sports at Stanford.  That's remarkable (though I don't see how that holds).

Looks like LA county now has a mandatory 10 day quarantine, but has conveniently carved out an exemption for incoming professional and collegiate sports teams. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-01-03/how-l-a-countys-new-mandatory-quarantine-order-for-travelers-works

RE: WBB: Updated January Schedule - CompSci87 - 01-04-2021

It would be nice to add a game to replace OSU. Davis? No idea if they (or anyone else) are available, though.

There are cases of Covid or contact with Covid among the WBB coaching staff and support staff.

I don't have a big problem with some limited sports going on. Although this is a major tragedy, there will be ongoing tragedies in the future. Life cannot come to a complete stop with every horrible event. Humans need some entertainment outlets even when things are terrible. This is safer than many other options.
