Preview:

We defeated Washington 83-50 way back in Las Vegas in early December on the strength of Jones's 29 points and 13 rebounds.  It was one of her best games.  Since that game Washington is 1-6 with a whopping 6 postponed games.  The one win was over Portland State back in December, so Washington has not has a chance to get on track in a very long time.  The losses have mostly been lopsided, too, except they did come within 10 of Colorado and 8 of WSU.  They are fairly balanced in scoring, with freshman guard Tameiya Sadler leading the way with 12 ppg.

Let's hope things go very well today.  And that the team won't be so eager to get back to Stanford that they overlook Washington.

Fast start for the Card, up 17-7.  Zero turnovers.  KW is 2-2 from 3.  UW already has 5 turnovers, due to our stellar defense.

We've had 17 shots to their 7 in the 1st.  Only 1 block scored, but I'm pretty sure I saw at least 2 if you count deflected shots that don't hit the backboard.

We are leading 28-9 after one quarter, thanks to turnovers by UW and hot shooting by our team. UW is shooting 43%, but has only taken 7 shots.

The grey cloud of the silver lining is Haley's knee injury when she bumped knees with a UW player and was slow getting up. At first, it looked like she needed help walking from her teammates, but was able to walk off the court without too much of a limp.

Stealing glances at the bench on UW's end of the court, Haley was sitting without needing medical attention, but in a game against an overmatched opponent, I would take it very cautiously and rest her if there's any doubt to the injury.

Geno A, by contrast, kept Buekers and one other starter in for all but five combined minutes in their blow out of DePaul today.

10-0 run to start the second quarter, and we are up 38-9.  Since the 6:45 mark in the first, Stanford has scored 29 points; UW has scored two.

We lead 41-19 at the half. After starting the second quarter on a 10-0 run, we are outscored 10-3 the rest of the way, as we only had 1 made FG in the last five minutes. I thought we might have hit 50 at the pace we were going, but due to our patented in-game slump (we always have one), we barely made it to 40 as we missed some easy layups and wide open shots.

After hitting 60% from the field, our slump dropped us down to 50%.

Before anyone accuses me of being dissatisfied with a probable blowout win, in this game, it probably won't matter, but these habits can persist and in a close game against a better opponent, long stretches of not scoring can come back and bite you, as it already did in two games this season.

Our bench is contributing.  Belibi and Jump are tied (with Lexie) for the points lead with 8. Prechtel leads us in rebounds (6).  Raise your hand if you saw that coming.
