WVB: #15 Stanford @UA (10/29), @ASU (10/31) - joemontes - 10-29-2021

Fri, Oct 29 (7 PM):
**************
#15 Stanford @ Arizona  (PAC 12 Bay Area)

Sun, Oct 31 (1 PM):
***************
#15 Stanford @ ASU  (ASU Live Stream)

This is it guys!  This is the start of the 2nd half of PAC 12 play, and Stanford (12-6, 7-3) has to up their game a few notches compared to  what they've done during their OOC and PAC 12 1st half schedule.

I predict they sweep the Wildcats tonight.

On the other hand, with the success that the Sun Devils have achieved lately (upsetting #16 UCLA at home, followed by upset win over #19 Utah @ Salt Lake City and dismantling Colorado @ Boulder), what I would have predicted as a 4-set win a few weeks ago, is now replaced by a 5-set struggle that can go either way.  We hope it goes the Cardinal way.

Tomorrow (Sat, Oct 30), I will come up with a short write-up previewing their showdown vs ASU on Sunday, and try to analyze ASU's resurgence.

Missing three starters tonight. Who?

Miner and Kipp

No Lougeay

RE: WVB: #15 Stanford @UA (10/29), @ASU (10/31) - 76lsjumb - 10-29-2021

And Lougeay

Why?

I turned it on at 7:02. Did I miss the reason for the absences? If not, this is the worst announcer in history. Either tell us you don’t know why - which he hasn’t- or tell us why.

Insane!

He never said. But he hasn't stopped talking

More Noise, Less Signal

Worse than Bill Walton!

He would have said the reason for the unavailability of players if he knew what it was.   Is it disciplinary?  Miner and Kipp standing on the sideline laughing and looking fine.  Lougeay is not present.  She may be sick.

I fear this may be a 3-0 sweep.

You give the announcer too much credit. He is, hands down, the worst, least informative announcer I have ever heard.

He even said so himself.

Ok, if you want to make it an issue, I will modify my comment.

He would have said the reason for the unavailability of players if he knew what it was or if Hambly gave him permission to do so.

RE: WVB: #15 Stanford @UA (10/29), @ASU (10/31) - BobK - 10-29-2021

The announcer is a long time announcer and a Stanford grad
Yes he is terrible

3 at once sounds like discipline.  I wouldn’t think it is academics

Announcer just said Rubio a gentleman
He was asked but refused to wear a mask at Stanford

No desire whatsoever to make it an issue. Very, very sorry if you took it that way. I didn’t even pay attention to the identity of the poster. Please accept my apologies.

With MINER, KIPP and LOUGEAY out....well, my expressed optimism for this team can only go so far...hahaha!

What just happened with that Stanford challenge for a touch? There was clearly no touch, right? Did I miss something on the replay? Arizona was given the point and Hambley was clearly upset.

Also, Xu looks like she is limping. Is there an injury report on her too? Maybe she is the least hurt so she has to give it a go

It is so hard to watch the Stanford Volleyball program just get destroyed. Hope this isn't the end of the season!

The announcer DID say that Xu was recovering from an injury. I think he said it was an ankle.

Baird and Campbell look like they are blind to the block.  They're just swinging and hoping for the best.  I don't get it.

Stanford blocked a few balls.  For the most part the block was beyond pathetic.

If this is disciplinary action, do Miner and Kipp play on Sunday.  A loss on Sunday and the question becomes will Stanford make the tournament; not if Stanford will be a top 16 seed.

The review challenge has to go faster.  It's taking too much away from the sport.

Looks like Tufuga is setting now?

RE: WVB: #15 Stanford @UA (10/29), @ASU (10/31) - BACardinal - 10-29-2021

Stanford is in the tournament. The committee will throw this game out knowing the circumstances. They looks at injuries and stuff. The high quality non conference wins and pac-12 opponents are enough to make the tournament. Also, Stanford doesn't have any "bad" losses besides tonight of course.

Xu has been hitting all year. Knee ankle whatever
