Other Games this Weekend -
Austroturf - 09-23-2023
In an interesting ACC contest, Clemson leads 3-0 vs. the Seminoles after one quarter and appears to be seizing momentum early. Let's see. The game is taking place in Death Valley, so that certainly gives the Tigers an edge.

Clemson dominating so far. 10-0 in Q2.
Now 17-14 Clemson as FSU has found their offense. FSU QB playing very well despite his injuries.

ELSEWHERE:
A. COLO-Prime gets Duck-slapped at Autzen. OREG favored by 3TDs. Quack. Big12 vs B1G.
Biggest test of the Buffalo Primetime Defense so far.
B. A battle of early unbeatens as UCLA visits UTAH. Cam Rising is not ready yet, so Johnson starts at QB. Utes by 3 at home.
Bruins apparently have a three-headed Cerberus dog at RB: Adkins, Steele, and Harden. Chip runs the ball 40 times a game.
C. The undercard of 3-0 Pac-12 teams: #14 ORST @ #21 WAST in what dould be a 4Q game on FOX. Odds: ORST by 3
D. The Evening Marquee matchup (7:30pm NBC) is clearly #6 OHST visiting South Bend, #9 Domers as a 3pt HomeDog.
Let's just call this an early Playoff Play-in game. That's what it is for NDAM. This is Game of the Day, as I see it.
E. Mildly interesting, the "DFW Bowl" of SMU driving to Fort Worth for TCU. SMU is a future league game for us.
A battle of independent church schools in TX.
Dungeon of Pac-12 After Dark:
Trojans roast Sparky in the desert, a 34 point favorite. USC pushes points into the 50s again.
Kal gets slaughtered in Seattle. Huskies favored by 3 TDs, and cover that spread. (10:30 ET game on ESPN)
-- save the tape on this one for Big Game... all of Kal's weaknesses will be exposed.

Clemson dominating so far. 10-0 in Q2.
17-14 Clemson at the half. The 'Noles appear to have found their offensive rhythm. Should be a close contest in the second half.

Clemson’s highly publicized kicking situation may have cost them the game.

Game now in OT. Although I'd like to see FSU win, I think Clemson will ultimately prevail.
They didn't.

Correct. Kind of reminds me of that Stanford-Oklahoma State game in the Fiesta Bowl in 2011. Swinney put everything on the foot of their newly-returned kicker rather than go for the TD, and the moment proved too big for Weitz. Now it's the end of regulation at 24-24. Clemson might pull this one out of the fire, but now it could go either way.
Truly poor game management by Swinney and his staff. Noles prevail 31-24 in OT.

Florida State prevails.
I wonder if Weitz is there next week.

Oregon vs. Colorado up next. I might be wrong, but I think the Ducks will simply be too much for the Buffs.

Good question. It was kind of a nasty thing to do to Weitz in that situation. Not wise game management by Swinney and Co.

Ducks doing to Buffs what was predicted.
13-0 at end of Q1,
Now 21-0.
Not looking forward to playing the Ducks.
Not that I ever was,
Now 35-0 shortly before the end of the first half.
Not quite as bad as U$C Stanford but close.

CRUSHED BY DUCKS
Buffs are being dismembered at Autzen.
Negative rushing yardage, and 2 yards per pass.
Oregon is turning this into a laugher early.

With the Buffs barely getting by Colorado State in double OT last Saturday, this current demolition of Coach Prime and his Cinderella team is not surprising.

In other former Pac-12 action, the Rising-less Utes are blanking the Bruins 14-0 at the half. UCLA has net 7 yards rushing.
Saban trails Kiffen 6-7 at the half.
In the Oregon-Colorado slaughter, the Ducks have 378 yards of offense at the half. The Buffs have 21 yards.

One can't help but wonder if this would be a different game with extraordinary two-way player Travis Hunter able to play. His presence alone wouldn't lift the Buffaloes over the hump, but he might have been able to keep them from getting run over the Cascades.
Last week a Ram player made a late hit on Hunter that will sideline him for a month or two. This occurred in the first half and was highly likely a factor in Colorado needing double OT to beat CSU. Shortly after that the Ram player got doxxed, and he and even his family received death threats. This behavior of course cannot be condoned by anybody, but in its own macabre way it illustrates the importance of Hunter to this year's Colorado team.

Wonder what Lanning's deal is trying to run up the score against the Buffs.
Is he upset about all the hype Colorado has been getting?
If Nix got hurt he would definitely regret it,

In the meantime, he has pulled Nix. The game is over.
UCLA cannot get anything going on offense against the Utes. Still 14-0 Utah. And Saban is up 24-10 vs. Ole Miss with less than 3 minutes to play.

Simple: Seedings for Playoff spot.
