Army Bowl Recruiting Announcements - unclechuck - 01-07-2012

Arrrrgh, how can School near Oakland continue to under perform and still get these great recruits? Announced today are elite Sacramento Grant safety Thompson, and SoCal DT McCarthy. We weren't in the game for them but other schools were.

Still no official word on Sanders. I'm not watching so feel free to update when something pops.

Edit: refreshed rivals link above complete with the happy news on Sanders!

Re: Army Bowl Recruiting Announcements - Farm93 - 01-07-2012

Not that hard to understand how C..a..l could land 5-star Cali recruits this year.

USC has 15 scholarships.  Very few to give away, and they clearly wanted players that could be on campus for Spring Ball.  Besides, not hard too believe that some of these recruits would understand that after Barkley leaves it could get hard to win.

Stanford does not accept everyone, as we know.

UCLA appears to be ready for an era below .500.  As bad as things appear for C...a....l, the situation at UCLA is probably less desirable.

So, if there is a Cali kid that wants to play in BCS AQ ball in Cali there might not really be a choice.

Re: Army Bowl Recruiting Announcements - unclechuck - 01-07-2012

Fair points Farm. I get the Sacramento pipeline to Cal: special admissions, close to home etc. Just hard for me to acknowledge that Tosh Loophole continues to sell his program so well. McCarthy stated he wanted a shot at the pros and alas, Tosh does have some success he can point to.

I might quibble with you on UCLA; I think Mora's made some good moves and their class of 2009 was loaded so they might finish above the dirty Bares next year. Maybe wishful thinking by me.

Guess I'll go with the glass half full: more big star kids to under perform that we can point to when we do go head to head with them.
