Fleener is putting on one hell of a show....
4.51 40-yd dash....
Re: Stanford Pro Day Discussion Thread -

Twitter reports say unofficially that Fleener had a 4.45 40-yd with the wind on the first try. The 4.51 time was apparently run against the wind.

Is it just me, or do the "shorts" they wore for the 40-yard dash look a bit too much like underwear? Watching them run, I feel like I got to know the players on a more "intimate" level...unfortunately.

FYI - The "main event" has started. Luck is throwing.

Those numbers are correct, he ran a with and against the wind pass

Firewall at work blocks ESPN streaming, sigh.

12 of 13 so far with some brobdingnagian bombs

Am I nitpicking, or does it seem like the receivers are having to slow down to catch the deep balls? That's the biggest knock on Luck that I've seen. Some have been great in stride.

I love the throw he just made on a corner route going to his left. Some of my favorite plays of the past 3 years are when he's flushed from the pocket. I'm partial to this one in particular:

Scouts have requested an additional throw: a 70 yard bomb that Owusu dropped :-(...beautiful throw though.

Who knew Luck would look as good against air as he did in real live games? Unbelievable, this guy.
Re: Stanford Pro Day Discussion Thread -

Luck was throwing into the wind, so I'd give him a pass on the receivers slowing down issue. Apparently it was gusting at times?
Twitter says the first dropped ball of the day came from Fleener (oops).
Re: Stanford Pro Day Discussion Thread -

From what I saw, Fleener did pretty well, but Owusu didn't help himself with a drop and Griff also needed to be perfect to turn some heads.

I also thought the contrast between the Baylor and Stanford pro days was kind of interesting. The Baylor players appeared to have some slick, high tech looking outfits, music playing and just seemed to have a higher production feel than the Stanford version. They even had cute mottos like "no pressure, no diamond" on their outfits. In contrast, Luck wore a baggy tshirt and shorts, the QB guru used a broom with a straw sweeper to create pressure, the receivers were in mismatched outfits or went shirtless. I wonder if the ESPN folks were disappointed at all by the laid back nature of the Stanford show.

This from espn.com:
"Colts quarterback coach Clyde Christensen said he couldn't remember a player ever choosing to throw into the wind, saying the challenge spoke more about Luck than anything."
Next thing you know, he'll be tugging on Superman's cape. Oh, wait a minute..., that's the other guy.
One scout said he was 45-48 today. Last time he was on ESPN, at the Fiesta Bowl, he was 27-31. That makes him 72-79 in his last two ESPN "outings." That's only slightly over 90%. No wonder those ESPN talking heads don't think he's all that accurate...

I agree with the presentation. While a little marketing and flashiness is not exactly Stanford's style, it couldn't have hurt. The AP report says Andrew looked like he'd just woken up :) DeCastro looked slick and professional in black. Bademosi had unfortunate shorts. Did Whalen show off his upper bod because any clothing makes him smaller or what was the reasoning for that?Â
So far there are two national articles about Andrew's Pro Day. One says he has a good, but not great arm, but that a great arm is not necessarily needed in the NFL. It then proceeds to rank Andrew and RGIII as 1A and 1B in the draft. So a lukewarm article, at best. AP's Antonio Gonzalez highlights the 70 yard throw in the wind, as well as the Colts' QB coach comment that Andrew's refusal to throw with the wind, as opposed to against the wind, says more about him that anything else.Â
Not much press on what Martin's pro day did for his stock, but I'm guessing he'll fall even further.

Martin has long arms. He's a technician more than a physical dominator, but I never noticed him standing out for not getting his job done. I'd take him over Riley Reiff.

Apparently Martin gained 10 pounds since the NFL Combine.Â

Bademosi made a name for himself today. he supposedly ran a 4.33 40 and put up a 40" vertical. with his size and willingness to tackle (plus gunner on ST), I'd be surprised if he doesn't get drafted day 2.Â
