What a day for Stanford not to bring the A game - yvonne - 09-25-2010

this is going to be ugly!

Well, Baldwin\'s error was the first big boner of the year. Have to happen sometime. Good of Stanford\'s defense to hold to a FG--this might well turn into a shootout. (Also good to get so many hits on Crist--we\'re getting pretty good penetration.)

Good recovery though. The defense looks like they came to play, Crist is already getting pounded, and our tackling is phenomenal.

One fluke special teams play won\'t make or break this game.

This announcing team is unbelievable. Marecic clearly got a yard past the 30, and the announcing team is whining up a storm.

Also how is holding up an opponents helmet to the crowd and then throwing it on the ground not a penalty?

Yeah, objectivity is a crock of fecal matter when you\'re paid you not to be. Thought the whining about Skov\'s sack was a little out of order too: looked like he timed the blitz to me.

They also don\'t recognize a lot of the cool stuff we\'ve been up to--did you see the unbalanced line we ran? Pretty neat (though the play got stuffed). Mayock is pretty good when describing technical stuff but anything requiring favor or bias to Notre Dame he\'s very meh.

Re: What a day for Stanford not to bring the A gam - dabigv13 - 09-25-2010

Yeah Skov was moving just as the center\'s hand was moving. The rest of the o-line was just asleep. A great play, too bad it was missed by the announcing team.

I thought I was the only one who felt that way about the announcers.

Skov being out is not good.

Don\'t like the Loukas changeup...Loukas has not looked ready even in mopup duty this year, messing up snaps and not accurate with his arm.

Also clear pass interference on the Baldwin near TD.

Re: What a day for Stanford not to bring the A gam - washingtonismoney - 09-25-2010

We just don\'t have the kind of wide receivers to play a "go get it" game. Owusu is good, but it\'s not like he\'s Andre Johnson or someone like that.

Re: What a day for Stanford not to bring the A gam - yvonne - 09-25-2010

That frosh TE would have brought that. oh well.

Re: What a day for Stanford not to bring the A gam - washingtonismoney - 09-25-2010

Well, for all the mistakes that got made...we\'re up by 10 and have the ball first in the second half.

No idea what is happening in Austin but the halftime score has UCLA up on Texas 13-3.  We\'ve got to take care of business at USB but could be a big day for the Pac 10/11/12.

I did not expect we would be limited to 16 points in the first half.  A long drive in the 2nd quarter resulted in a FG.

Re: What a day for Stanford not to bring the A gam - washingtonismoney - 09-25-2010

Watching it now, and UCLA is shoving the ball down Texas\'s throat. This is what they should\'ve been doing to us. May have dodged a bullet there.

I think we get a lot better in the second half but ND is not a bad team.  But W$ is right, we need some bigtime receivers...we have good but no great.

What I liked about the first half - JohnR34231 - 09-25-2010

On a day when our offense isn\'t exactly overwhelming the opponents defense, our defense is able to hold down the fort.

Hopefully it will continue in the second half.

Re: What a day for Stanford not to bring the A gam - washingtonismoney - 09-25-2010

This is similar to the UCLA game, offense-wise: we\'ve got slightly more than 6 yards/play, just haven\'t quite finished off drives as we ought to. Hopefully there\'s a similar finish for Stanford.

Re: What a day for Stanford not to bring the A gam - dabigv13 - 09-25-2010

You know, our tackling has been superb all game long.

Been a while since you could say that about us.

Re: What a day for Stanford not to bring the A gam - washingtonismoney - 09-25-2010

The weak link on defense has been Johnson Bademosi--they\'ve been picking on him all game long, and they\'ve usually succeeded.

crappity smack

Re: What a day for Stanford not to bring the A gam - washingtonismoney - 09-25-2010

The running game just hasn\'t been there. Gaffney would be nice, but he limped off the field, hasn\'t been seen since, and the Notre Dame Broadcasting Channel hasn\'t seen fit to inquire as to why.
