Backup QB TJ Millweard decides to transfer:

Leaves the Bruins a bit inexperienced and thin behind Hundley.

Millweard is quoted as saying: "I grew up in the Midwest and the South. Coach Mora is a great coach. UCLA is a great school. But it is a different fit for who I am." I wonder what his message is. Primarily Mora (had been recruited by Neuheisel), living in Los Angeles, other...

Stanford's QB depth seems every bit as thin as UCLA's. We lost both Nunes and Nottingham. We have Hogan and four guys who have never taken a snap (Crower, Lloyd, Burns, Olson). Let's hope Hogan stays healthy.

While Stanford's depth isn't ideal, I'd categorize UCLA's as worse, both in the near-term and the future.
For 2012, Stanford has four scholarship QBs while UCLA only has three. That's a pretty big difference, I think.
In the future, if Hundley leaves for the 2013 NFL draft, they'll be forced to either play a grayshirt QB (Neuheisel) or a guy who just converted from WR his senior year of high school (Woulard.) (UCLA hasn't recruited a QB for 2014). Stanford, of course, will be bringing in Chryst if the Old Union gods are good.
So I like Stanford's overall QB situation much better than UCLA's.

I read it as "I don't like it here, but I am too polite to come right out and say that." The cynic in me also says that there probably were football reasons too -- he was basically in line to sit behind Hundley for 3 more seasons (counting 2013-14) and then maybe have a chance to start for 1 season.

Neuheisel is a walk-on, they don't want him ever starting a game.

fullmetal, correct me if I get this wrong. In Texan vernacular, "I like my chips and queso" means "I can't compete".

And I wore boots. There's something else going on here.

The kid's from Texas.Â
He means decent chips and queso.

If his Texan family is anything like my Texan family, "queso" means "Velveeta and Rotel", and my guess is that the quality of the LA queso was not at issue. Unless it didn't sufficiently clog his intestines, in which case "to each his own".

Yes! It would always freak me out when my friend brought out a block of Velveeta and said she was going to make "queso."

Anthony Barr down with what looks like a concussion. Never a good thing when this happens to a young man, regardless of the team.

OT Torian White has a broken ankle suffered in the second quarter, and RB Jordon James left the game late in the first half. Both were starters.

Re: Today in opponent attrition: UCLA -

I watched the UCLA-Utah game last night. After Torian White went down, the Bruins became pretty one dimensional on offence - run the ball, run out the clock, and hope Utah doesn't score. They couldn't pass because their right tackle and right guard were freshmen and couldn't pass protect to save their lives, and their centre couldn't snap the ball above the Qb's knees. If Utah's Qb had only thrown three interceptions instead of the
six he ended up with, Utah would have won the game handily. UCLA doesn't appear to be the team they were in the Pac 12 CG last year judging by what I saw last night.
Re: Today in opponent attrition: UCLA -

From the article:
Quote:Simon Goines moved to Whites left tackle spot and Caleb Benenoch played right tackle. That left the Bruins with two first-year freshmen, Benenoch and guard Alex Redmond, playing next to each other.
It isnt so much that Caleb isnt ready to play tackle, its just you got two kids who a couple months ago were trading Pokemon cards in high school, Klemm said. They know their stuff, but we were in a situation where there wasnt much communication. We had to go on silent counts and they couldnt rely on help.
Pokemon cards in HS? Ha. In any case, since Brett Hundley managed to record a TD reception last night, we might assume that he's on the two-deep at three different positions: QB, RB, and WR now. And that means UCLA is in dire straits.

Nice -- you must have a great lead guitarist to be able to pull that off.

No, the school in SoCal that's in Dire Straits is USC. And this is the relevant song:
