The Big One in November - How Will it Play Out? - DucksAreRoostingInTheTree - 10-25-2013
Hello from a fan of another program. Oregon vs. Stanford. The game we have all been waiting for. Will it be an offensive onslaught or a defensive grudge match? How do you do see things playing out? How do you hope the game will progress compared to how you think the game will actually turn out?

I think you're looking for this board:

Umm, isn't this an independent Stanford board to discuss sports with Cardinal fans and fans of other teams? I try to avoid the rather corporate feeling scout/rivals boards if at all possible.

You do realize that your Ducks play the Bruins this week, do you not? Go troll them this week.

I do realize that. Ok, I stepped into a hostile environment here... When did talking about football with your opponents become trolling? Of course we both have important games this weekend, but the next game up is really what we're all waiting to see. :-\

It seems reasonable to say that we'll know a lot more about how Stanford and Oregon might go, after this weekend. And to me, it's really about how Oregon plays against UCLA.
Oregon and Stanford only have two common opponents so far, Washington and Washington State. Oregon did a bit better against UW and Stanford a bit better against WSU.
UCLA is more than likely the best team Oregon and Stanford both play aside from each other. Given Stanford just played UCLA and Oregon plays them this week, it seems prudent to hold off talking about Oregon at Stanford until after the games this Saturday.
Given how much Oregon fans seem obsessed with Stanford, the Oregon players could be too. If they don't fully focus on UCLA, Stanford may be ahead of Oregon in the BCS rankings on Nov. 7.

You make some good points. I hope our players are more focused on UCLA than Stanford.

Sorry buddy, right now we are focused on the Beavers. After this weekend, we can talk about how the Ducks Will Be Roasting on the Spit.

What he said. A win over Oregon would be brobdingnagian. But only if we beat Oregon State. If we lose to Oregon State, we are likely out of the Pac 12 race.

Oregon Dude is trying to distract our psychic energy away from Oregon State...do not fall into the trap!

There are actually TWO teams I really hope are not looking past their games this weekend -- the Card AND the D.ucks. I can't really see any way in which UCLA beating Ore.gon helps us, regardless of how our game against the D.ucks plays out.

Am I the only one who read the visitor's handle as "Ducks are Roasting"?

Hopefully the Bay Bridge holds this time.

Hey DuckRoastingOnTheSpit, how will it play out?Â
Now you know.Â
You may win a lot of games during the regular season with your cheesy offense, but there will always be a disciplined old school team stopping you from winning it all whether it's Stanford, Auburn, Ohio State, or Alabama.

Wouldn't want to be the guy with the "We Want Bama" T-shirt franchise in Eugene right now...

I want one of those shirts. I bet a lot of Stanford fans do. He just needs to adjust his marketing strategy.

I would love to see a Baylor vs Oregon game in the Fiesta Bowl. I imagine Vegas would set the O/U at 100.
As for the "We Want Bama" t-shirts....opps. I hope we do not do the same mistake by creating "Smelling Roses" t-shirts with USC, Cal, and (hopefully) a PAC12 championship game still on the schedule.
One game at a time!

I don't know. Perhaps if Roasted Duck with Cheese [or whatever his handle was] drops by the Board again, you can find out... I'm afraid the green and yellow would clash with cardinal, though...
