Big Game prediction thread - BostonCard - 11-17-2014

So how's this going to end up?

My head says something like Cal 24 - Stanford 17
My heart says Stanford 21 - Cal 10

I'll decide which one to go with by the end of the week.

I suspect both have a bit of a Stanford bias,so I will go with

They officially became University of California, Berkeley (might have been University of California at Berkeley, but I'm too lazy to check) in the 1950s. That's why their website is www.berkeley.edu and not www.california.edu. In fact, there is no www.california.edu -- read into that what you will.

Therefore, the University of California, Berkeley is the school formerly known as the University of California.

That's got to stick in the craw of more than a few UCB fans, who insist that it's the only University of California, and that all the others are satellites. When I worked at Princeton in the early 1980s, everyone referred to it as Berkeley. Alumni friends of mine who are not into sports don't have a problem referring to it as Berkeley, UC Berkeley, or even Kal-Berkeley. It's the sports fans who seem to have the issue with it.
