What's the problem with this Frank Buncom? No 40 year plan?

He's announcing at his school end of the month. And lose the b.

Probably worth noting that Charlie Beall is a walk-on. Also Sean Barton will be part of this class, while Houston Heimuli is going on a mission so will be part of the 2017 class (as will Gabe Reid, if he commits to Stanford).

Brian Chaffin was admitted to Stanford back in November.

A request. Please edit out quoting the original post, will make this thread less cluttered. I will update as people report changes.
I wonder if there's a wiki function in the new board software so that others can go ahead and make the edits?

edited.
No wiki function in any forum software that I'm aware of. I could install a separate wiki, but I'm almost certain based on previous discussions that members would prefer to have it listed here.

Yes no Farrar.  3 of 16 not accepted 16 includes walk on kicker and Barton.

It might seem like nitpicking, but Stanford's acceptance of undergraduate applicants is conditional and contingent upon the student satisfactorily completing his or her remaining high school coursework. I don't know if it's ever happened, but I suppose it's possible that a student's offer of admission could be revoked after signing day?

Your earlier message said 4/17 not accepted, yet. This one says 3/16 not accepted (no yet). Are the three awaiting a decision or have they gotten an unfavorable one? (I assume the fourth was farrar, and the decision was unfavorable).

If Edwards found out today, that means that two are pending (stands to reason he was one of the three if he just found out today)... Also means that of the six listed as committed but pending admission, excluding Edwards, four have been admitted, but we just haven't heard. That's good news.

Really? I have never had that happen to me, in 18 years I've been an alumnus. I get the occasional "you must be really smart" or a "wow", but I've never had someone remark that Stanford rejected them (or someone they know) when I tell them I went to Stanford.
I do tend to notice that there is a bit more disdain for Harvard graduates (which is why I say I went to medical school in Boston), but I think that has more to do with the fact that we are an arrogant bunch.

Thankfully I hang out with less bitter crowds than ferrari.
Most seem amazed, then note that I must be smart, or perform favorably on tests etc. That little jolt of pride never gets old BTW. And then many assume I scored big in some tech start-up IPO along the way. I sadly need to point out that it doesn't quite work that way for everyone. Still my interactions on the subject of Stanford University have largely been very positive, though I must confess I rarely follow it up with questions about their alma mater.
I guess I have safely avoided the crew of parents with offspring that were not accepted to Stanford, in time I will hit that crowd I guess. That might be a bit to navigate through. Thankfully the 5% admit rate means that most parents, at least in my area, are not clueless about the odds. Accepting only 1 in 20 likely means a lot of very qualified kids will not get into Stanford.
Lot's of good schools out there, is my usual response to any of the reactions to brand envy.  Maybe that keeps the bitterness at bay.

If Stanford sweeps the recruits in Publius' post and adds Gabe Reid, but does not land any stealth recruits or long shots (like Iman Marshall), will it end up ranked in the top 25 classes? I think it might on Rivals, but I don't see how it gets there on ESPN, 247 or Scout. Nevertheless, I think it would be a very solid recruiting class that fills most of the team's needs. As long as Shaw is able to retain assistant coaches/coordinators like Anderson, Turley, Hart, and Akina, I think players of the caliber Shaw recruited this year will develop very nicely on the Farm.Â

I for one cannot wait to see what Coach Akina does with all the DB talent from last years class, and if all goes well, with this year's class. I suspect that Akina being around might have played a part in Lyons' decision to return for a 5th year. If you have had a bit of an uneven career up to this point, why not take an opportunity to work for another year with a coach acknowledged as one of the best in the nation at his job.
Regarding our recruiting ranking, I haven't looked too closely at where ESPN has us right now, but I did look at their top 300 and several of the guys we are waiting on are on that list: Buncom (#186) Love (#215). I don't suppose we have any chance with Equinimeous St. Brown (#63), do we? His background seems to make him such a great fit for us, I still hold out some hope that he could be a sleeper. I don't put much stock in ESPN's player rankings, but picking up a couple of their top-300 might get us into their top-25.
But I do think that it makes more sense to look at the average ranking of players in a recruiting class, rather than the overall team recruiting ranking. I think that due to the high number of our players who stay the full four years (without dropping out for academic reasons or heading to the NFL at the first opportunity) we will often have classes a bit smaller than other schools. So as long as our average of all our players is high, I will be satisfied. So on Rivals we are the 9th best team in the Pac-12 right now, but if you look at our average stars/player we are #4 (and that is before adding, hopefully, three 4-star players in Buncom, Meeks, Love.) I can be quite satisfied with that.Â
