Apparently Sark got rip roaringly drunk at SC's season kickoff event:

Apparently Sark told dildo jokes, which I was not previously aware was a genre of humor:

Too awesome, for all haters of V.S.C. I love the posters on the Fight On Website who, literally, said "As long as he wins on Saturday" and compared him to John McKay. Of course, McKay wasn't drunk at university sponsored events attended by players and their families, and he wasn't coach in the Twitter/Facebook age.
Sark is a mess, and yet another piece of evidence that character does, indeed, matter. Somebody MUST have been videotaping that. Can't wait for it to hit Youtube (but it hasn't yet, I just checked)

Can't imagine donors, alumni, prospective recruits and their parents are too impressed by this. Given that this kind of behaviour isn't an isolated incident, is it the beginning of the end for Sark at USC?

Pulled off the stage by Trojan Legend John McKay?
Since he's been dead for a number of years that would have been pretty tough.
I think the author meant John McKay, Jr., who was a good player for the Condoms, but as far as I know isn't considered a Trojan legend.

I'm sure Haden and the SC PR folks are working OT today on this. At the very least, I think they need to suspend him and require him to go to rehab. Which means he probably won't be coaching the team when we play the Toejams next month. ;)

I, for one, will be very surprised if anything like this happens. Haden will give Sark a stern warning not to let this happen again, and if it doesn't, it will be business as usual.

Possibly stories will start to "leak" that he had the flu, or something, and had a reaction to medication. Something. Anything. That can't just stonewall this, can they?

If it happens again, Haden has threatened not to run on the field and berate officials on behalf of Sark again.

Do you think somebody texted or phoned Haden to come to Sark's aid?

I think Sark was a bit too wasted to reach him

It will be interesting to see how this story develops beyond the West. Here's a link to a brief story in the New Orleans paper:
http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2015/08/southern_cal_coach_steve_sarke.html
Love the parting shot/irony about Ed Orgeron being passed over for the permanent HC job possibly because he wasn't "polished" enough (he's the DL coach at LSU, hence the tie-in to the story).
I don't think anyone would accuse Sark of being "polished"... although he may be "polished off" if another incident occurs.

IIRC, it was considered newsworthy when B.ear Bryant
didn't show up sloshed to one of these types of events. Not much happened though, for obvious reasons.
He did end up in rehab, but it was after his coaching days were over.

I can fully imagine how attendees felt last night. In the early 1980s, I worked for a Fortune 500 company and we were having a high-level meeting about a possibly takeover attempt. One of the senior VPs waltzed in about 45 minutes late, after a 3-(or more) martini lunch, interrupted the proceedings, and loudly announced that we had "some of the best looking, most well-built broads in the whole outfit." I can still remember the gaping looks, especially from us gals. My boss went around afterward apologizing to all the women for this exec's behavior.
Making it doubly awful was the fact this guy was the only other STANFORD grad in the building. I'm sure the numerous SCers were privately chuckling. The man wasn't fired, but was sent to rehab (more than once, BTW).

His initials weren't DT, were they? (Oh, that's right, he didn't go to Stanford).

On more on-field matters, it seems the local commentariat is rather skeptical:

I wonder what would happen to Shaw if this had been him. Then again, consider who the AD is - probably nothing.
