A statement at the start of the year would more likely be closer to current truth than one made as he was preparing to head off to Stanford - and would factor in things like having played only a little bit freshman year and losing his entire sophomore year to injury.

This within a general discussion about how within a program, NFL ambitions are balanced with program goals. He noted that the strength and conditioning coaches don't allow them to look ahead, but the regular coaches do talk about NFL possibilities.
