Stanford is not in the playoff without this par putt on 18 by Ng.

Will there be coverage of the 5 holes on either golfstat or the golf channel?

When is the playoff? Are they going to wait until tomorrow?

Golf Channel's coverage is scheduled to end at 6 pm. But I think they could easily stay with the broadcast for the playoff since the next show is just a studio show, Golf Central.
Scottsdale has at least 90 minutes before sunset. There should be time to complete the playoff after the other competitors finish their rounds. The last group is on the 18th fairway.
The format will be one player at each hole from 14 to 18. Coaches decide who plays which hole. When the players are in position, there will be a shotgun start. Lower aggregate team score wins. If they are still tied after one playoff round, they will restart and go again.
Golfstat does not have a way to represent playoff scores. So our only options to keep track will be Golf Channel or twitter reports.

they have a page for the playoff but it doesn't have any info yet
https://results.golfstat.com/public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=team&&lb=&x=0.741780767066&tid=28117
but maybe it will soon have some info
ADD: it now has info
ADD2: tied after one hole

Michael Thorbjornsen with an absurd chip-in birdie at 18 sends both ASU and Stanford to a second playoff hole.
RE: Stanford MGolf Thread -

Stanford got birdies from Thorbjornsen (chip in) and Vilips. But Brown missed a makeable birdie putt and Ng and Menon bogeyed.
ASU got a birdie, bogey and 3 pars. Still tied. Each player advances one hole and the playoff continues.
On the 2nd playoff hole, Stanford got a birdie (another long snake from Ng), a bogey by Brown and 3 pars. ASU got a birdie and 4 pars. ASU wins.
Stanford had chances in round 2. But Brown drove into a bunker on 18 and then missed about a 12 footer for par. Vilips missed from about 10 feet for birdie.

We lost. Season’s over in a brutal way

Sigh. Oh well. They made a fight of it.
Thanks for the updates and commentary, Spiny.

It was pretty absurd.

The final stage of qualifying for the US Open were held today, and it was a great day for the Stanford men. Four of the 156 players - professionals and amateurs - made the cut:
Michael Thorbjornsen
Karl Vilips
Barclay Brown
Alex Yang
This is a serious accomplishment. I've never heard of a college program getting three players into the US Open, much less four.

Didn't Patrick Rodgers qualify as well?

He did but he’s not a current Stanford golfer

After Day 1 at the US Open
T56. Patrick Rodgers '14 +1
T56. Barclay Brown '23 +1
T123. Karl Vilips '24 +4
T123. Michael Thorbjornsen '24 +4
T155. Alex Yang '25 +9
Projected Cut +2. Rickie Fowler & Xander Schauffle both shot 62, which is the all-time lowest round at a US Open

Barclay Brown might make the cut? He's at +3 and right now the projected cut line is 2 over par. No matter what, a great two days.

Rodgers was the only one to make the cut. Oh well. We got four current players in. I asked Coach Ray when I saw him last week if he knew of any other program that had even done that and he said he was pretty sure nobody ever had.
In other news, assistant coach Cole Buck is going home to be the associate head coach at TCU. Wishing him the best in his new adventure!

19 amateurs in the field, and four were current Stanford players. Impressive.
Rodgers T29 with 11 other players, but I like to think of it as Rodgers being multiple strokes ahead of John Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood, Sergio Garcia, Jordan Smith, Patrick Reed, Ryo Ishikawa. He also made the cut over Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose, Francesco Molinari, Stewart Cink, Adam Scott, Matt Kuchar, Martin Kaymer, Keegan Bradley, Olin Browne, Jason Day, and Justin Thomas.

Patrick Rodgers, in a modified Stableford scoring system, is clinging to a 2 pt lead (effectively 1 birdie margin) as he searches for his first career PGA Tour win on the back nine of the final round. Would be the first Stanford alum since Notah Begay not named Tiger Woods to win on the PGA Tour. Would be a nice response for Rodgers after holding the third round lead (after he was unable to close the tournament at the Valero earlier this year).
