Oh then with Xavier Woods (and minus Johnson and Peppers) that appears to create a neat and tidy 15 plus Barton which was suggested in the next previous post.

One other question I had is that David Lombardi's podcast partner (in their recent podcast) spoke of Jordan Pratt as somebody who might be able to work his way into a scholarship. I was under the impression that Stanford gave him a scholarship up front, class of 2011.

Re: Class of 2013 - Extra Point - 01-14-2013

I read somewhere that Jordan Pratt's tuition was paid for by a fund set up for ex-professional baseball players.

Kelly to Philadelphia might help us slightly with Smythe (who was scheduled to take an official visit there this weekend, I believe). OTOH, re: Smythe -- N.D. has offered, so a new challenger emerges.

Aren't the challengers back-up plans for bad news from Stanford admissions?  I'm putting Smythe in the Stanford column if he's admitted.

Re: Class of 2013 - StannyBoy - 01-16-2013

I think all the remaining recruits are Stanford bound if admitted. Why go through all the trouble if they aren't your #1 choice?

Re: Class of 2013 - Bruce Wang - 01-17-2013

I'm reasonably sure Smythe and Cunningham sign if admitted.  Devon Allen just said in an interview that UCLA is still in the lead after the Stanford official.  It sounds like what's working to UCLA's advantage is their track program and the fact that the Stanford track team has a new coaching staff.  Hard to call a place a leader if you're not 100% sure you will get in.  Let's hope the psychology of getting admitted alters the dynamic here.  Right now the team's only weakness is the receiving corps.

Re: Class of 2013 - stan01 - 01-17-2013

I hope Smythe comes if he gets admitted.  Does anyone know when he submitted his application?  Devon Allen only submitted it a week ago.

Re: Class of 2013 - socalstanfan1 - 01-17-2013

Regarding Allen's comments that UCLA is in the lead right now: this seems, to me, the safe thing to say right now.  I mean, what if he were to say "Well, Stanford is my clear number one if I get admitted, but I'll go to UCLA if I have to", and then he doesn't get through admissions here.  Not a great way to start off at UCLA.  "Well, you guys were a really STRONG #2, so I guess I'm happy to be here."

On the other hand, if he says UCLA is number one, then gets admitted to Stanford, he can pull out the old: "That Stanford degree is too good to pass up.  I love UCLA but..." and everyone is o.k.  My guess is, if Allen gets admitted, he comes here.  If he doesn't, he can say he was UCLA all the way.  I assume that if he is finishing up his application at this late date, he has thought about coming here, and must really want it.

Re: Class of 2013 - oman - 01-18-2013

Heard the vaguest of conjecture that Baylor was still a tiny bit in play for Smythe.

Re: Class of 2013 - Hey - 01-20-2013

Per Drukarev, all current commits are also admitted.

Xavier Woods was visiting this weekend.  He's from Louisiana, and I was watching his highlight video and in one of the clips he tackles Taijuan Thomas and causes a fumble.

:-\  Cannot quite tell what I should think about that, particulary if Woods joins the class

Re: Class of 2013 - stan01 - 01-22-2013

Devon Allen was offered a football scholarship to Oregon today.  He already had a track scholarship from them.  He is visiting Arkansas, the number one track program, right before signing day.

Re: Class of 2013 - yvonne - 01-22-2013

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I stand a chance.

Smythe visiting Notradahm this weekend.

I am hopeful that it feels just too full of shenanigans for him.

I hope he hates snow and freezing temps, because it isn't getting out of the 20s there until Sunday when it might reach 32.

Just checked his twitter.  Smythe notes the cold.  A Paddy is trying to sell it as a feature and not a bug (preparation for playing at Lambeau).

Note that I'm allowed to use the slur Paddy because my legal first name is Patrick.

Smythe grew up as a ND fan, apparently.  He also plans on visiting Michigan next weekend.  I can't remember where I read an interview where he discussed one of the finalists not being overstocked on TEs.  Direct reference to the three TEs already committed to Stanford?  Hopefully he is not afraid of a little competition.

Re: Class of 2013 - larkinforever - 01-27-2013

With Smythe (ND) and Allen (Oregon) committing elsewhere, and rumors of Cunningham not being admitted, is there anyone else out there that Stanford is trying to close (aside from, of course, stealth recruits that we don't know about) besides possibly Xavier Woods? (I was kind of looking forward to another exciting signing day...)

Re: Class of 2013 - yvonne - 01-27-2013

This class is closing really poorly.
