Any thoughts of filling that or saving
Moss is being redshirted

With the COVID year, technically everyone could come back. I don't expect that, of course. Our three seniors are:
- Delaire
- Kisunas (probably moving on, maybe to a team back home in Lithuania?)
- Fitzmorris (should't be asked back)
I'd imagine our 2 current 2022 signees are to replace the latter 2. Delaire coming back, which he can, would be massive. And of course it's possible Ingram declares for the draft, if his purported stock warrants. So there may be a need for a third, or even a fourth, recruit.
If we end up needing another recruit, I'd be gung-ho for finding a potential impact grad transfer to fill that slot. (Recall USC's lineup yesterday had 3.) We proved that was plausible, even though the guy we wanted chose UCLA. Given COVID year portal-mania, I'd have to imagine there will be a couple starter-caliber grad transfers with good enough grades. That said, Haase's track record of late signings has also been quite good overall...missing out on last season's grad transfer gave us Raynaud, who has four-year starter potential. Delaire, Jones, and O'Connell were also late summer signings.
As of now, we only have 2 juniors on the team, Jones and Keefe - this means there are only 2 slots for 2023 at the moment as well. A grad transfer this year would put a band-aid on Delaire/Ingram's departure, and allow Haase to recruit a third player to join Carlyle in what could be an excellent 2023 class. Delaire or Ingram returning would do the same. (I don't see Ingram staying all four years anyway given current talk about him, so there will likely be another slot somewhere in the shorter term too.)
Has the football RS rule been extended to basketball? I was under the impression it's in discussion but has not yet. Moss has played garbage time in a couple games, which would make him ineligible to RS unless the rule has indeed changed.

Probably because this thread is on page 5 in 1.5 years and the women's thread got to page 37 within a year. I guess we can defer to a critical mass of posters slash preferences of the admins on this one. There's certainly a sweet spot between pinning our most popular recurring threads and leaving only a small portion of the landing page for one-off threads.
Then why is football c/o 2024 recruiting pinned?
Methinks there's a bit of a chicken-and-egg problem here. This thread is on page 5 in 1.5 years because Papa John found and revived it. That was necessary because a master thread has not been pinned. There have been many other MBB recruiting threads in that time, such as threads on the commitments of Ingram, Silva, and Agarwal, because a master thread has not been pinned. I believe there would be more discussion and interest in MBB recruiting, and hence more news and posts, if a master thread were pinned. I don't want to start a new post every time someone drops a top X list.
Case in point: here is a DIFFERENT more recent 13-page "MBB Recruiting" thread that Papa John seemingly didn't find in his quest to revive one and discuss Kanaan Carlyle. (Not ragging on you, Papa John.)
https://thecardboard.org/board/showthread.php?tid=20464&page=13
Finally, here is some actual prospect-related chatter. Staff is still heavily pursuing 4* top-50 SG Wesley Yates. 247 doesn't report us as having offered, which can't help the interest of those not in the know. We have offered and are on him extremely hard. He took an OV in November.

I vote pin MBB Recruiting.
The redshirt rule is no games after 30% of the season Moss played in November he is redshirting.

No rag taken, SamuelMcF. I agree with BobK and others, pin MBB Recruiting please!
Wesley Yates is a 2023 recruit that would be an amazing complement to Kanaan. He's from Beaumont, TX, and 247sports FWIW has him "warm" for Baylor and cool for everyone else.

More power to the people. And so it is done! Changed the titles of both teams' recruiting threads because with the prefixes they were kind of redundant...

Should we have pinned the more recent 13 page thread that was mentioned instead of this one? I was going to look at both threads, move some posts if needed, and pin the newer one. But I was too busy with work.

If it's somehow possible to merge that one into this one and/or move posts around as needed (take the recent posts from this thread, stick on the other one, then pin that?), I'm all for it.
In any case, thank you mods for pinning this! It certainly gives me more motivation to post recruiting tidbits and hopefully boost interest.

I'm happy to merge, but if CompSci has a grand plan I will defer to him. I just pinned the only thread I saw anywhere near the top, though I was surprised that there was such a long gap of time between posts. (Then again, it's men's basketball in the Haase era...)
RE: Class of 2022+ -

I've merged the other recent recruiting thread into this one, and have split out the posts about 2021 recruiting and other such old news into a separate thread. I'll make sure the recruiting board has pointers to both.

SF/PF Dawes is blowing up. His last 4 offers are Texas, Texas Tech, Houston, and now Stanford.

Hey look, a staff that at least actively takes a look at grad transfers!
Assistant coaches have followed in the past day or two:
- Bucknell SG Andrew Funk
- Hartford CG Moses Flowers
- North Dakota St SG/SF Sam Griesel
- Seattle Pacific (D2) PG Divant'e Moffitt

I mean, the women’s basketball team actually took a grad transfer this last year, as did the football team (and a very highly rated player at a position of need). If my math is right, Fields is the third grad transfer we’ve taken in football.
I’m all for the enthusiasm that Haase shows, but it has been six years and we have zero NCAA tournaments and one NIT to show for all of his efforts. Haase’s enthusiasm is starting to remind me of another coach who was long on enthusiasm and short on wins, to the point where he was once compared to a cocker spaniel.

Yikes, look at the scoreboard. You’d think we would have provided him with a picture where we were actually winning!

That was more of a dig at football, where guys applied and got into Stanford completely on their own merit without being in any contact with the coaching staff. This is what Fields and Isaiah Sanders both did. They are Renaissance men who just happen to play football.
"We've taken" implies the staff did literally anything to "take" them, like trying to contact them at all. They did not. I would prefer to say the staff "was provided with" or "was served up on a silver platter," because "take" is an active verb and there was precisely zero action by the staff on those transfers. Duane Akina literally didn't know Fields was joining the team until he was already enrolled.

That's a nice change for sure. It'd be even better if some decent, admissable bigs would enter the portal.

Our only guards on the roster for next year are Silva, O'Connell, Moss, and Taitz. Anyone of these guys would go straight into the rotation. We'd better land at least one.

Fair point; I think the issue is that while Haase’s enthusiasm in recruiting is well-described, his ability to turn that into strong on-court performances is lacking. I’d rather be reading that he has taken on someone that can teach the players he has fundamentals, or who can craft an effective offensive philosophy, or that he has finally figured out how to make the whole greater than the sum of its parts. Unless one of those guys is the proverbial missing piece, I remain skeptical about the long term prospects of the basketball team under Haase.

Hoping that Haase can land a grad transfer guard. Unfortunate that he didn’t “recruit” well enough to get the players already on the roster to stay:

This was expected; he was either transferring or going abroad somewhere. Remember in our tourney games he lost his starting spot and came off the bench.
