Well played, Marty.
Was at the game, for the first half at least. What was it - 6 turnovers? Worst Stanford football since the Harris years. Losing both fans and players as we muddle on with the slow and steady decline of our once proud program. Chuck Taylor was the quietest I've seen it in some time, with most staying out of the stadium.
How can the powers that be continue to sit on their hands? There may be a handful of Stanford fans at Big Game at most.

Or not since 1984 when Reuben Mayes and the Cougs turned a 42-21 4th quarter deficit into a 49-42 win.
I was at that game. Left early.
i was at that game too. junior year.
future Chicago White Sox general manager Ken Williams fumbled a kickoff return, and that was the turning point.
that's the only time i ever booed our guys.

Same Williams whose son bobbled two punt returns to keep the Ninerbaughs out of the Super Bowl.
McKee and this scheme is a disaster. The biggest loss has been the one guy who could get open. McKee has way too many balls blocked at the line and is way too inaccurate on his sideline throws. I would never recruit another statue QB. Daniels should take over but Shaw will play it safe. Either way they go 3-9. Ott of Cal will kill them because the guys who finished the game in the back six (or seven, Sam) take the wrong angle once the line of scrimmage is breached. Ergo five yard gains become 15-20.
Right now hopeless with a coach who is way too comfortable resting on past laurels.
Empty stadium and quasi-empty Maples for MBB. What a f****** tragedy.

This is what you get when you hire a President who thinks a football is round.
Does anyone think that there will be any kind of statement from AD after this fiasco?

You are so done with this, but you couldn’t help yourself and had to listen to the press conference first. I’m much less despondent than most here, and maybe I haven’t listened to a Shaw press conference in ages. Why do it? Like, they aren’t entertaining (and never have been, even when we were winning), they are rarely informative, and they only seem to upset people more.

Pride? I crashed a WSU watch party. I can take a lot of smack talk when we lose. What I can't take is the sympathy for having such a suck a$$ team. Buddy Teevens 2002 team would have blown this Stanford team out of the stadium. Maybe Shaw can pull Walt Harris's game tapes to inspire these guys.
If Shaw is head coach next year, I won't be renewing our STIX.
On another note, since the AD is giving away tickets, can I get a refund for those games?

Question I have is whether there are any influential alums that can sway Muir.

Muir is not the issue, he marches to the orders he is given from on high. Try the President, Provost and BoT.

Muir can only say Yes Sir, No Sir and Three Bags Full. He is NOT going to do anything he isn't told to do, or he would have acted long ago.

I think the administration is very loath to give up on Shaw. As long as he was winning, it all looked fantastic from a Stanford perspective. The Director of Football could boast the following with respect to himself and the program:
1) Stanford alum and former player
2) High level of ethics
3) High graduation rate
4) Excellent ability to represent the university
5) Strong communication skills (though they are definitely declining as the Ls pile up)
6) Even-keeled and intelligent
7) And, in the meantime, the winningest football coach in Stanford history
While the Ws were still there, what was not to like? Now we are at that juncture where the Ws have been gone for a while and don't look as if they will be returning anytime soon. Muir, MTL and the others clearly do not want to face that reality or simply don't care. That list of attributes is still good even without the Ws (or so they probably reason). And if he starts winning again, all the better. Hence, no urgency to act.
And that's the issue, folks.

No, he wouldn’t have acted “long ago”. Shaw is the most successful coach in Stanford history. That earned him some equity. He’s now run through that. So, it’s time. But the “long ago” line is inaccurate.

Yeah, the question seems to be how many more 3-9 type seasons do we need to endure before they feel they have to do something. Time will tell.

Notre Dame fans must be scratching their heads this morning.
At one time the 2023 season seemed like it would kick off with a 2-0 record. Now it looks like defeat to Hawaii and Sac State. If that doesn’t do something to hasten change nothing will.
Hey... pitchers and catchers report in a little over three months and now with the Series over the most important offseason in years begins for the Giants. And so will all the election lawsuits.
