I was going to post a fake sponsor's line with edgy/bad brands. As I looked for the worst companies, I realized they were among the biggest American brands. Even the 10 Companies That Cooperated Most With The Nazis. All blue chippers.Â

Also farmersonly.com should give the band a 50% equity stake. They've done more for their publicity than anyone else has.
I hope we're back in the Rose Bowl next year or soon. A follow-up performance would be awesome, this time aimed squarely at the bowl administrators.

The Band should contact farmersonly.com and get permission to sell their Tshirts etc on campus as a fundraiser for the Band.
And as for your comment on the Rose Bowl Committee....those of us who are old remember some pranks played by Caltech at the Rose Bowl in the past. The Committee may want to think twice about dissing the Band....who knows what the scoreboard might read at a future Rose Bowl.

farmersonly.com's Twitter feed says they did not give permission for their name to be used in the show, so I'm guessing they won't be too keen to the idea sadly.

I suspect the Band's use of the farmersonly.com name did not require permission of the trademark owner because the Band's use of the name was a parody. But I'm not an intellectual property lawyer, so I could be completely wrong.

Probably so. Good-natured teasing is one thing. Citing the "stupidity, shallowness and egocentricity" of an entire population is mean-spirited. Ellen DeGeneres says it pretty well, "If you're just kidding, why don't we
both find it funny?"

Just so I don't misunderstand... Am I correct in understanding that you're pointing out that the rather negative characterization of the Iowa voters was not your characterization of that group, but the characterization by the writers, directors & producers of
The Good Wife, and furthermore, you're pointing out that this is all from a work of fiction?
Frankly, I gave up on

In defense of my people...
1) Iowa voters are consistently more informed, more engaged, and more active than any voters in the nation. Our high schools and colleges consistently turn out the top 5 most educated populace in the country. We have stayed first in order as we are typically a bellwether state. Obama's numbers in Iowa prior to his running were higher than anywhere outside
Of Hawaii and Illinois. The Tea Party takeover of the GOP was foreshadowed by Huckabee winning the Caucases. Politically Eastern Iowa is basically equivalent to the Eastern US, while western Iowa is basically the fiercely religious conservativism of the western United States. Des Moines and the rest of Central Iowa is the swing area. Luckily, progressive eastern Iowa is more populous and has a tradition of adopting civil rights laws in Iowa that are far ahead of the rest of the nation.
2) As far as the band, I think the shock is that our band is the
anti-Stanford in that they are a complete throwback. The Hawkeye Marching Band emphasizes difficul marching transitions rather than the elaborate formations and pop music of todays bands. And I see someone called them boring, but they're considered one of the best. #15 in Bleacher Report's Top 25 Best College Marching Band Shows, right behind the famous U-S-C Trojan Band. Only Mich, tOSU, and perhaps GA Tech have I seen been above our par. (/bias)

I don't know what planet you're on but these are myths, FYI. We were quoted as saying that we hadn't seen him play due to the time zone differences and King talked about pancakin LSUs All-American lineman in the Outback Bowl (which he did) and made the point that he would not be intimidated despite Garnett's skill. Iowa has NEVER been anything but humble (well, apart from Matt Roth about Florida) under Ferentz.

The best thing about Iowa is that it us the state with the least gerrymandered congressional districts. Seriously, they're the only ones that actually make, you know, sense.

FireSting, two quick suggestions about this whole band thing:
First, pointing out that the Iowa band is ranked just BELOW the U.SC band is about the worst (or maybe the most amusing) thing you could have chosen around here to tout Iowa;
