Last drive Stanford went with 7 o lineman Smith at TE and Scarlett out of the I behind Marx on every play save one. On that play they had JJ in. He started wide right and then shifted inside.

They had to have that drive. Because Berkeley moved the ball all game.

Old fashioned grinder. Both teams playing ball control and working clock.

Wouldn't be a Big Game without dirty play from the Bhairs.

Wow. If you look at the stats, they are almost identical. Both teams punted once, both teams missed a FG, nearly the same yardage. Kal with no TFLs, Stanford with some. Stanford, though, with more TOP and timely INT (Kal's INT was meaningless).

I think Scarlett's running at the end was so critical (especially that third down run to get us to 4th and 1), as was our passing/route-running/receiving, especially on third down. And that PI against Kal on that third and long was brobdingnagian.

A bit concerned that Laird (who impressed me) gashed our defense so badly; ND and hopefully SC will have much better running games. And I hope we continue to mix in TE play to expand our offense a bit. Would love to see some more Speights as well. But I am thrilled for the win.

We need a transfer stud middle linebacker to come in and be ready to play against ND.  :o

Seemed like Alfieri was in good position often, but failed to wrap up several times.  Also seemed like he played more outside LB than middle, so I wonder if that switch is over?

Concerned about ND's rushing attack . . . Lance has some thinking to do this week
