Re: Class of 2017 - TrumpCard - 03-16-2016

I initially thought the offer was bogus, but there are reports that he absolutely blew people away with his performance at the Dallas Nike camp. 4.38 speed at 6'5". Those are Randy Moss numbers.

Re: Class of 2017 - DC - 03-16-2016

Should we have saved a couple schollies from this years class to have been used next year?

It's all too late  ;)
On the other hand, every year around the same time, our recruiting looked so promising...
The real test will come around end of December to mid January...

An update on Hines:

http://espn.go.com/blog/pac12/insider/post?id=98894

Looks like arrow down:

Quote:“It has to be soon because I’m graduating a semester early,” he said. “So it will be before December. There are about five schools right now that I think stick out.”

If he wants to enroll in the spring, we're dead.  Also:

Quote:“I want to go into finance,” he said. “I want to be able to know how to use money so I can make smart investments and try to manage my money. So the schools I really like all have my desired major and a powerful business school.”

We are screwed if he insists on finance, though the Stanford Economics department is strong, and certainly the GSB would be considered "a powerful business school:.

Re: Class of 2017 - TrumpCard - 03-22-2016

For those interested in recruiting, the @stanfordfb twitter account is worth watching.  It links to recent, free Scout video interviews with Osiris St. Brown and Darnay Holmes.  Several good tea leaves for Stanford in the OSB interview.  There's also a recent Chaz Ah You article from a local Utah paper with less favorable tea leaves.  And a free 247 interview with Foster Sarell and his coach and mom that make it appear Stanford is in a good position.  Easier than trying to keep abreast of all the articles out there on various sites.

Re: Class of 2017 - Stanford_Cardinals - 04-01-2016

We made the top 5 for Tarik Black

Re: Class of 2017 - OutsiderFan - 04-01-2016

Does this make any 247 predictions for Stanford on him? Currently they are all for Ohio State, Alabama, and ND.

Between Black, St. Brown, and Peoples-Jones, I think Stanford has one prediction for St. Brown among all votes.  Of course, all but two of the 19 total predictions are from 2015 so things could evolve on that front.

Ont he other hand, Stanford is considered the favorite to land Darnay Holmes, which would be yuuuge.

In the + tea leaves dept, he's got a Stanford hat on in his new Twitter pic

Re: Class of 2017 - BigEasyCard - 04-04-2016

Duck legacy Elijah Molden impressed by academics during his recent Stanford visit:

The Comments section has a lively debate about the relative merits of a degree from Oregon vs. Stanford.  See CobraDuck et al. if interested.
