3rd and long. Time for another back-breaking defensive penalty!

Re: @OSU Game Thread - Tycho124 - 10-26-2017

Why, Shaw?!  Why?!  I've been  good.  I've been kind.  I've donated to charity and helped sick children.  Why do you hate me?!

Re: @OSU Game Thread - gocard14 - 10-26-2017

How many points do we lose by if Phillips isn’t drawing holds on every play?

Re: @OSU Game Thread - martyup - 10-26-2017

Chryst is playing so badly that I'm afraid he might throw a pick on our last chance to score and win the game.

Your reading comprehension just can't be helped.  There was a clause to begin the sentence.  I wasn't accusing him of actually shaving points.  He coaches "as though" he is shaving points.

I read you just fine.  Nobody would look at his coaching, or his results, and think “possible point shaving” even if one knew nothing about Shaw.  How can one look at the results, his record against the spread, and think he’s coaching as if he is shaving points.  Someone coaching as though they are shaving points would not go even against the spread, let alone be 20 games up.  Running the ball when you are up late in the game (derisively called “turtling” here) is a pretty standard strategy.  It might drive you crazy, but it is not remotely a sign that someone is trying to shave points.  If there is anything else Shaw does that suggests he is coaching to do anything other than win the game, irrespective of the point spread, then I honestly don’t see it.

The statement was ridiculous.  And frustrated as we might be by the way this game is going, there is no justification for saying that Shaw coaches as if he is shaving points.

I'd have happily said it before the game started.  You must realize you are on the vanguard of Shaw apologists.

Hahaha thanks for bringing a chuckle on a dreary evening otherwise.

Amid all this horror Harrison Phillips has played a phenomenal game.

How well can he throw a post to the TE?

Yup.  Hot garbage is a charitable description.

Alternatively, one possession game with over 9 minutes left....

Re: @OSU Game Thread - dabigv13 - 10-26-2017

Looked like Keller was lining up in the huddle right before the break...

Re: @OSU Game Thread - gocard14 - 10-26-2017

Hell put Burns in. Do Something!!!

IF Costello doesn't come on the next drive, Shaw is just messing with us all.

If he hasn't come in yet, I don't think he's coming in this game

Yup. I saw Chryst going out in the huddle again. Whatever bizarre criteria Shaw is using to judge quarterbacks apparently doesn't rule Chryst out. This will be followed by yet another press conference in which Shaw talks about how he doesn't sway with the wind blah blah blah.

Tree, OSU is a really bad team.

Re: @OSU Game Thread - Mick - 10-26-2017

Costello must have done something wrong.  He's being disciplined.  That's literally the only conclusion I can draw.

I don't know if you caught the sideline reporter asking Shaw if Costello would come in during a halftime interview.  the look on Shaw's face was one of pure contempt for the question.  i thought "Holy Cow, he's not going to bring him in AT ALL."

Hate to be correct...

Shaw is now in a catch-22.  If Costello comes in and does well, Shaw looks bad for not playing him earlier.  If Costello comes in and we lose, Shaw looks bad.

Re: @OSU Game Thread - shinsengumi - 10-26-2017

I'm predicting a pick by Chryst on this drive. There is just no mojo at all.

Re: @OSU Game Thread - dabigv13 - 10-26-2017

Hahahahahhaha it's starting to get funny now.

Re: @OSU Game Thread - cardcrimson - 10-26-2017

What did Burns do to not get a sniff?

Re: @OSU Game Thread - phxfan - 10-26-2017

For those that care to remember this is a similar game to the UC Davis loss.  Harris was going to win or lose his way and nothing was going to change his mind.
