NEW COMMIT!!! Kendall Williamson, 3* CB out of Georgia. Our pipeline there is STRONG.

Hope he's able to start recruiting his buddies - Booker and Kelly!

Solid offer list for a 3*, so a high 3*.  The next best offer is Michigan State.  Psyched that a defensive player that Mark Dantonio wants has chosen The Farm instead.

Re: Class of 2018 - OutsiderFan - 10-17-2017

Can anyone ever remember seeing a CB recruit play TE in his highlight reel?  Williamson lines up at TE in a few of his Hudl clips.  Based on his video, it seems the kid would best be described as "a football player." Tough, competitive, and will do whatever is asked of him.

In addition to never having seen a CB recruit play TE in his highlight package, I also found myself thinking "I could see this guy potentially bulking up to play LB," which is something I've never thought while watching a CB recruit's video.  Williamson just seems to have great instincts for the game, and will be solid wherever he plays.

Re: Class of 2018 - OutsiderFan - 10-21-2017

Can't believe how little enthusiasm there seems to be about the news Thomas Booker could make his commitment announcement tomorrow, especially given 247's Crystal Ball has him 88% Stanford at the moment, with the last 7 predictions all being for Stanford.

This is a 4-star, #6 in 2018, 6-5 290 DE with a pretty spectacular highlight reel, that includes interceptions and making tough catches as a TE.  He'd arguably be the biggest "get" of a DL for Stanford since Solomon Thomas.  Offers from LSU, Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan, plus Harvard and Princeton to name a few.

And I don't know if you saw the Rivals story on him, but man, what an eloquent and thoughtful kid.  He's even already taken classes at Stanford, which is in-part why the spies are so confident he will pick Stanford.

Yes, Stanford has a bye today, but a commitment from Thomas Booker would be a pretty big recruiting victory to celebrate this weekend!

Re: Class of 2018 - Hurlburt88 - 10-21-2017

Yes it would!  I did not catch until this morning that a commitment decision/announcement could be imminent . . . so holding my breath for the right lifetime decision.

Re: Class of 2018 - BobK - 10-21-2017

I'm excited.    Although he is smaller than you think at least in person 😄

Re: Class of 2018 - Hurlburt88 - 10-21-2017

Bob, how can someone who is 6-5 290 be smaller than we think in-person?

Re: Class of 2018 - BobK - 10-21-2017

We start with not 6-5 not 290.  Doesn't make him less needed.  He is very needed.  You can also look at tweets of him with others.

Re: Class of 2018 - CornFed - 10-21-2017

What is the caliber of his competition?  He just looks like a man among boys.  He had a bunch of TFL just crashing down from the outside.  If he got just AN arm out, it stopped the RB cold.  Wow!

Re: Class of 2018 - BobK - 10-21-2017

Booker's Gilman HS is big time

Re: Class of 2018 - TreesAndBirds - 10-21-2017

Same school as Hamilton and Maddox. But I think star coach left a year or two ago so pipeline might dry up in future.

Re: Class of 2018 - OutsiderFan - 10-21-2017

Booker may not be 6-5 and he may not be 290, but he's plenty big enough.  He looks quite impressive on his highlight videos.

Re: Class of 2018 - Hurlburt88 - 10-21-2017

Do we have any more realistic estimates in his size?

Re: Class of 2018 - BobK - 10-22-2017

Back to our class size.  Counting the two mission kids we have 11 commits.  Hopefully Booker makes it 12 today.  Maybe 5-6 or so have been accepted, hard to really tell.

We have 10 players in their last year.
We have 81 on scholarship today with the one opening carried forward and the three retirements.
Easy to see 4 who have another year not returning, three becasue they aren't playing and I have always counted Phillips as wanting to move on with what will be a great life.

So I see 18.    That's without any other than maybe Horrible Harry going Pro early.

Booker is committed: https://twitter.com/TheThomasBooker/status/922175858978287618

Re: Class of 2018 - OutsiderFan - 10-22-2017

Sorry, but this is H-U-G-E!

Fell in love with Booker's video highlight the first time I saw it, just like I did Davis Mills, and Christian McCaffrey's.

He's a tremendously athletic big guy who can be a dominant 3-4 DE.  Pair him with a big-bodied Dalyn Wade-Perry, and maybe a Swann or Ryan Johnson, and hopefully an Andres Fox, and the DL will be restored to a Top-25 level.

Why are you sorry ?
Great to land Booker

Probaby sorry because h-u-g-e is a banned word on this board.

24/7 has us listed as 67th best class and that seems to include Booker, but we are around 25 on average quality of recruits, so of course the issue is the current relatively small number of recruits

Re: Class of 2018 - BobK - 10-22-2017

Thanks on the banned words.

No the problem is that our coaches think more highly of our recruits than do the so called experts.    :-[
