There were great non- conservative play calls on the drive until they got inside the 5.  Then it is back to vanilla.

Never like going for two too early in a game. Always seems to come back to haunt. . . .

Re: Sun Bowl Game Thread - ThePassionOfTheChryst - 12-30-2016

Agreed with everyone calling for a QB dive. The one redeeming quality Burns has consistently shown is his willingness to lower his head and deliver a blow to a tackler. That's a good trait down inside the 1.

Why the hell on't they run the QB sneak?  You can push the runner into the end zone.

Agreed.

Because this QB has a tendency to fumble the snap...

Ah. If that is the reason, then I support it.

Of course, all season long [except for one game], the play call was CMAC over the top...

If Chryst hadn't got hurt, well....

Here's what you do on 3rd down and 6 inches from the goal line:

Spread the field with 4 WR and put Fanaika in the backfield.  Burns under Center, snap the ball, he drives forward, and Faniaka pushes him from behind.  I GUARANTEE that would gain 6 inches.

Solomon, Lloyd, Ukropina (and others) playing like this game matters to them.

Re: Sun Bowl Game Thread - Langdude - 12-30-2016

I think with that sack, Solly just sealed his early-entry papers. What a player.

Re: Sun Bowl Game Thread - 76lsjumb - 12-30-2016

Glad Solly felt it was worth the risk to play...

Re: Sun Bowl Game Thread - BurgXXIII - 12-30-2016

Solomon Thomas would be stupid to come back next year.

He had a lot to gain by playing, and he gained it.

Re: Sun Bowl Game Thread - OutsiderFan - 12-30-2016

here comes the predictable run up the middle, instead of passing like you should.

That 3rd down play showed too much imagination.

Re: Sun Bowl Game Thread - VFRing98 - 12-30-2016

2 horrible calls by Shaw will cost us this game.

Re: Sun Bowl Game Thread - Trevmiesterj - 12-30-2016

Meeks hurt.  This drive should never have happened Shawgren.
