Maybe. But the refs blew a few other calls, so, I'll take it.

This season may end up being one we won't care to remember in the future, but we're currently 2-0 against SC and ND.

Shaw's first win in South Bend. Congrats to the team. Obvious improvement on both sides of the ball compared to last week.

That's how we do it this year. Great game to watch and a great win regardless of the negatives.
Game balls to Love and Meeks.

I think the ball was dead once our lineman was on top of it. ND's guy may have scooped it up, but it should've been dead there.

I just rewatched it. The ND lineman's knee was down before he tried to pitch it back. Then, our lineman fell on it but didn't control it. Then another ND lineman grabbed it while his knees were on the ground. He then scooped it backwards. The whistle had blown at that point.

Apparently Brian Kelly wanted to fight Shannon Turley, in case you still thought he was capable of rational decision-making:

I mean, forget that grown men shouldn't fight each other over a game played by teenagers. Kelly does realize Turley would end his life in a fight, right?

Not sure if he directly made any plays, but it looked like Toohill was getting push on virtually every pass play he was out there.

They did it on the road, in a tough venue for visitors. They did it without CMAC. The did it with 3 turnovers. The did it with only 10 pass completions for the game. Thank you Stanford defense. Thank you Bryce Love. Gutsy win the Cardinal. They're 4-2 and heading into what should be the easier part of the schedule, although Colorado might be tough. They are wounded, but not dead.

All this. They're certainly not playing the best we've ever seen, but there is so much to be said with what they've faced the last couple weeks and how they just did not give up. Even though O got back into the swing of things near the end there. Rose Bowl winning seasons have found it hard to win in South Bend, and while this isn't the best ND team ever, it's still a tough place to get a win. With all the injuries, they still had the right guys step up and make plays as needed. 4-2 after this schedule is still very solid, and I'd love to see them continue with the grit they showed tonight.

Looked like a live ball to me on the replay, but a really tough call to make during live action.
Hey, we're 4-2 with wins against 'SC, UCLA, and UND. Even if those teams are down, that's a great start to a season.

Boy, Turley has his work cut out for him with this offensive line.

It seemed like the line was a lot better this week. They opened holes for Love to get over 100 yards, and gave Burns more time to throw. Of course still plenty of room for improvement towards Stanford lines of the past few years.

Yes, much improved over the games against the WA schools. But they are still getting out muscled.Â

Also, per ctcard, the Irish were not much worse at run defense than wazzu. So running well against them is a good sign.

I'm not sure. I guess improvement is relative after the disasters the last couple weeks. But still too much pressure on Burns. At least twice, we gave up a sack when ND rushed three. Still too many runs that were stopped up front.

It looked like the run blocking got better as the game went on. And while the pass blocking was so-so, I do suspect Burns could've helped it out a bit sometimes.
