Someone has to explain this to me. What possible reason could there be?
I believe you're talking about the timeout in which the clock was set to 2:13. The end of the play (out of bounds, but clock still running because forward progress was in bounds) had been at 2:34. As of 2:31, Shaw wasn't signalling. The TV video shows Shaw signalling for a time out at 2:28.  My guess is that he thought the time out was given and it took 10 seconds to realize it hadn't been, but that is only a guess.

The decisions are second guessable in both directions. Glad it worked out.
Losing that time out was bad, but apparently non-fatal.

Wow, wow, wow - great contributions by our bookend Parade 1st team AA WRs - WHOOT! And I'm happily eating crow after criticizing Burns earlier

And it turns out that running that time off the clock was helpful, UCLA has a much better shot if we kick off with 40 seconds left (though we probably try to run more time off the clock if we get to the 6 with that much time).

It is possible that Shaw knows more than me. Holy holy cow.
(I'll still second-guess Shaw because I can't help otherwise, but I will remember this moment when I do)
Holy holy cow
I guess Shaw was "saving" McCaffrey on 4th and inches so he could come through with the first down on the final drive!? We can still second-guess in the moment though! :P

This is the kind of victory I prefer to have against Domers or $C.

Can you explain why? They just ripped the heart out of the Bruins and that seems worthy to me.

Has anyone else noted the number of 'leading with the helmet' tackles UKLA is attempting/making? It's kind of stunning.
Yes, I saw at least 3 helmet to helmet hits. In one, the defender almost knocked himself out and had to be pulled.

Really? I like beating the shit out of them more than any other team (except maybe Kal). The 2009 $C game remains my favorite of the Harb/Shaw era (although the Rose Bow last year comes close, as did the Pac-12 championship).

John Platz asked Shaw about the punt in the post game interview. Shaw said that he was actually arguing with his wife about it recently because it's come up a couple times. He said you do it everytime and play defense because you never give up field position.

Thomas is an Outland winner in waiting but Phillips is the key. no way SC runs the ball up the middle. Perez should stay on specials only. Kalambayi overrated. Lloyd scares hell out of me.

Irwin has always been there ready to make plays. He just needs more balls thrown to him. A-W showed what he can do and I expect he will be used more often in the future.

| JJ Arcega-Whiteside | 3 | 29 | 9.7 | 1 | 14 |
Really nice game by the two of them. How many third down catches did Irwin have to move the sticks? And JJ-AW had the catch of the game.
