I believe this was addressed elsewhere but cannot seem to find it. How does it affect us if 'bama beats LSU? To be honest, neither seems to be dominating the other, and I'm not sure how to perceive it (both at high level or both at mediocre level?).

If Alabama wins, especially in a close game, there will likely be minimal movement in the playoff rankings. So, Stanford would be largely unaffected -- which isn't what we want. It's early enough at this point that it likely won't matter, but if LSU wins it will likely eliminate Alabama from playoff contention.

Does the 'Bama game matter to Stanford's playoff chances? It's hard to imagine a scenario in which an SEC champ doesn't make it and a Pac12 champ with 1 loss would be left out in favor of a second SEC team.
I'm pretty much focused on the Big12 generating a 1 or 2 loss champion as our most important linkage, outside of going undefeated the rest of the way and perhaps playing a highly ranked team from the South.
