Per Drukarev, on Saturday David Shaw told Thomas Schaffer he has been admitted.  Now he just needs to commit!

Evidently good enough.

I guess Schaffer knows enough ENglish to say "CardClass16"

Schaffer seems like a great pickup.

Two questions:
(1) Mich St. offered, but no offer from Mich or tOSU - considering he is from B1G country, is this meaningful?
(2) He is listed at 6'7" - can a DE be "too tall"?

Re: 2016 Admits, commits, and prospects - OutsiderFan - 01-06-2016

A DE can't be too tall.  Remember Ed "too tall" Jones?  He was 6-9.

Re: 2016 Admits, commits, and prospects - larkinforever - 01-06-2016

Thanks. Still learning about football - seems like height for a DE could be good (assuming proportionally long arms) for batting down balls or generally getting in the way of throws even if not actually touching the ball, but was thinking about leverage and "getting low" which I've come to appreciate about Stanford's O line, especially in short yardage situations.

Should move Nygel Edmonds to "Admitted/Suspected 7th Semester Admissions Casualties/Decommits"

Wait a minute -- when did this happen? I see that his Twitter bio says he's a C.al commit, but there's no tweet there from making that announcement. Was it long ago?

Re: 2016 Admits, commits, and prospects - PrinceLightfoot - 01-12-2016

It was noticed yesterday evening.

Re: 2016 Admits, commits, and prospects - JohnR34231 - 01-12-2016

They say recruiting is a soap opera for men.

I'm starting to believe it. "Will Nygel Edmonds, spurned by Stanford, find happiness across the Bay. Tune in again next fall".

Ha!  I'd never heard that expression, but it's pretty apt.  I feel a little silly sometimes following recruiting this closely, but I tell myself it's natural for a Stanford football fan to care about the process by which that team is assembled.

Re: 2016 Admits, commits, and prospects - Leftcoast - 01-12-2016

I thought Drukarev tweeted that Edmonds was admitted?  Unless there is other evidence we shouldn't cast shade that he's an admission casualty simply because he chose our rival but perhaps the  rest of you know more info than me.

Re: 2016 Admits, commits, and prospects - kuz - 01-12-2016

As has been posted in the 2016 recruiting thread, there's a lot of information behind the paywall in the Rivals message boards.

Re: 2016 Admits, commits, and prospects - BostonCard - 01-12-2016

As always, the emphasis should be on the players that we do get, not the ones that we didn't.... and we just got a very big and important recruit.
