Roster has been up several days but players reported after the roster update.  So who knows the weighs as of now

Re: Training camp thread - OutsiderFan - 08-09-2016

Let me just take this opportunity to howell in disgust at how universally awful the Pac-12 conference school athletic websites are. In particular, I can't stand how they display team rosters.

Re: Training camp thread - TrumpCard - 08-09-2016

Professor McFaul apparently is taking Coach Shaw on the rounds.  I'm not sure what relevance this has to football, but it's a good look for the coach compared to what other people do with their summer vacations.

Re: Training camp thread - BostonCard - 08-09-2016

Apparently, McCaffrey is "significantly better".

http://www.sfgate.com/collegesports/article/Shaw-McCaffrey-is-significantly-better-9130572.php

He'll need to be if he wants to convince recalcitrant SEC H-award voters that he deserves the award.

Just wait until Harbaugh hears that Shaw went on a recruiting trip to the Baltics. He'll be setting up a camp there.

Re: Training camp thread - washingtonismoney - 08-09-2016

The President of Estonia's kid went to Stanford.

I'm sure you're not that cat's keeper, but if you can, try and keep it a safe distance from Christian McCaffrey, thx?  It just might eat him....

I spoke with Coach Shaw a couple of weeks ago. His family vacationed in St. Petersburg, Russia, with a stop in Estonia. They traveled by way of Helsinki. Somehow I doubt that he ran into many of his coaching peers on that trip.

DL, ILB, and DB are addressed in this take from Lance Anderson.  Nothing on OLB.  Most interesting takeaway for me is the fact Sean Barton is the first guy he mentions at ILB.

Some pretty cool stuff from Trent Irwin on how he runs routes: http://www.signalscv.com/section/2/article/155379/

For those who didn't see the Stanford Football post on facebook:

Re: Training camp thread - OutsiderFan - 08-11-2016

Is Stanford the least covered top 10 program in history?  The national media covers the program, Stanford puts out video packages, and individual players are covered, but the day-to-day reporting and access is exceptionally weak.  Cal's Rivals site reports on every Cal practice and Cal's media department posts video interviews of players and coaches after every practice, for comparison.

I thought the first Stanford padded practice was suppose to have happened, but no reports or anything I can find.  Stanford does a first day of practice video, in slow motion, with fancy music, but that's it, and not what this fan cares about anyway.  I'm not even sure how many practices there have been since Sunday.  Utterly clueless about who looked good, etc.

Don't you want to feed fan interest if you're Stanford Football?  And doesn't Stanford Football know the real fans want to know about what is going on in practices?  Even if the media isn't allowed to cover them, the coaches and players could still be made available for press interviews.

Re: Training camp thread - Phogge - 08-11-2016

Well Stanford did turn down an approved "60 Minutes Sports" profile of McCaffrey.

Stanford is Stanford. No other program like them. Very capable SID in charge of football. Great co-operation on the VR story. Actually a refreshing outlook even though it can cost somebody some work.

Re: Training camp thread - fullmetal - 08-11-2016

Well, I think the SID dropped the ball on the design aesthetics of the new webpage redesign.  So much wasted space!

Re: Training camp thread - BostonCard - 08-11-2016

ILB is interesting.  Could we see Barton and Okereke starting  by the end of the year?

Re: Training camp thread - washingtonismoney - 08-11-2016

Possible, I think -- but I bet we'll see a lot of rotating for matchup. Palma useful against running teams, Barton and Okereke perhaps more useful against passing ones.
