I think this article was more of a postmortem.

I took his meaning that we have a wounded team that has suffered multiple wounds, and you are trying to figure out which one to operate on first.  You would thus triage pass protection over QB performance, and specifically figure out a way to either get Hall to improve his protection of Burns' blind side, find someone who would be better than Hall, or give Hall some help back there.

Although I would argue that Luck was a college QB who could throw across his body. But he was Luck.

Partially true.
It's one thing to be able to zing and occasional pass across your body.
It's something else to be able to see the left hand side of the field while you are running to your right.

Or you could be John Elway and run to your left while throwing to your right to Emile Harry.  At Oklahoma.

For as long as I've been on The Cardboard (which is about 15 years) when the offense is struggling, rollout passes and bootlegs are the first thing fans clamor for....hell, used to be me too. Somehow I think if it were that easy, we'd have seen it.

Because you spelled it in Spanish.

I did finally get the ability to read the article.

I agree with the main point, that the #1 of many sources of trouble was the OL.

There are a few detailed descriptions that seem somewhere between half-right and wrong. For example, the first incomplete pass only had two of four receivers at the same level, and one of them was wide open (uncovered) but Burns didn't have time to find him. The total time to sack on that play was a little longer only because it took awhile for Burns to go down - it took very little time for him to get forced to move and give up on the throw.

The prescriptions for improvement were quite the mixed bag.
Obviously heavier protection packages are probably necessary, though it doesn't seem it is exclusively Hall that needs help.
I don't quite know what he means by running more stretch formations. Originally I thought he meant calling stretch run plays from what I learned as the Ace formation, but I don't see how that would help in pass protection so it's probably something else.
Calling for Love and McCaffrey on the field together as receivers is also not going to slow the rush much (since the rush was not a blitz) - and not particularly helpful when Love isn't healthy.

That article did interest me enough that I tried to time some of the plays myself. It's pretty hard, moreso on plays where there is a sack. Exactly when you stop is tricky - when the QB gives up on throwing, when the QB first gets hit, when the QB officially hits the ground. I kind of think that it's at the moment of the first hit - and that is also easier to determine. Still, I seemed to have a standard deviation of several tenths - and somewhat smaller values that RJ.

It would never fly. Commatists are only interested in grammar.
