112 yards in the comeback win against WSU, and needed every one to pull that one out.

Re: Hogan in for KC - HisKneeWasDown - 10-23-2016

Just threw his second INT to end the game :-(

But overall a solid start. Not a team where he'll see a lot of success, unfortunately... but hopefully he'll play well and stay healthy and have a long successful NFL career.

Re: Hogan in for KC - North Woods - 10-23-2016

Great rushing. Unfortunately his passing stats weren't very good. Still very happy to see him get meaningful experience.

Wasn't his arm hit on the INT? Hard to blame him for that one.

Would be pretty cool if two Stanford QBs start on the same day, should he get the call next week.

From what I read, his play sheet is pretty limited. He'll have to learn more of he play book if he's to start next week.

Re: Hogan in for Cleveland - Phogge - 10-23-2016

The Browns suck big time. If they are smart they will pick Peppers, just like Peter.

Re: Hogan in for Cleveland - BostonCard - 10-23-2016

Luck had himself a nice game despite, and yet another fourth quarter game-winning drive.

No matter what happens in the future, @khoagie8 having a 100 yard passing, 100 yard rushing game and a TD is a heckuva NFL debut.

Re: Hogan in for Cleveland - ThePassionOfTheChryst - 10-23-2016

I didn't watch the game. By the numbers it was a poor passing game for him, but an article I read included rave reviews from his teammates. Numbers don't always tell the whole story in football.

All in all it sounds like he had an impressive debut. It remains up in the air whether he will start next week. Apparently it hinges on whether Josh McCown can be medically cleared. It would be nice for Hogan to get another start, especially after having a week of practice with the 1s under his belt. Should he get the start next week, he will have an absolutely fantastic (and potentially career-making) opportunity.

Still, if Kessler recovers in time for week 8, I think the Browns are going back to Kessler.  Two INTs and a QB rating of 26.4 may not outweigh the longest QB rushing TD in the league this year.

Browns postgame notes, most focusing on areas needing more help than QB:

Re: Hogan in for Cleveland - North Woods - 10-24-2016

I'd have to assume Kessler is still plan A, but at the same time:
* You'd hope they wouldn't rush to get him back from a concussion especially given they are well out of playoff contention
* Hogan should get first team snaps in practice this week

Hate to have opportunity come due to another's injury, but that's part of the game and hopefully Hogan can seize the one he has here.

Re: Hogan in for Cleveland - Phogge - 10-24-2016

Some draft experts have Kizer to the Browns at #1. They would be smarter to take Peppers who can be a Kenny Easley type. The 49ers would be a great place for Hogan when Shaw takes over after Phil Knight poaches Chip. Lance becomes Stanford coach and we all sleep better.

Kizer, really?  I realize that Notre Dame (like us) has issues at multiple positions, but... Kizer seemed pretty pedestrian.

Kizer has mysteriously collapsed like the Stanford OL. Based on his play before NC State I thought he was a wonderful QB. Starting with that game, he's disintegrated.

Re: Hogan in for Cleveland - Phogge - 10-24-2016

There are questions about Watson. What every GM in the League wants is another Carson Wentz. Kizer is a project. So apparently is Goff. When Fisher gets fired I think the Rams will go with an offensive guy. If he wasn't 70 Al Saunders would be perfect. I hope Hogan is listening to him in Cleveland.

Re: Hogan in for Cleveland - fullmetal - 10-24-2016

Kizer -- the next Tyrod Taylor.

Any Stanford fan who watched the Orange Bowl in person (Stanford vs. VA Tech) will remember Tyrod's performance in that game.  It was...less than impressive in its totality.  I never understood the appeal of Tyrod at the pro level.

Well, anyone can be made to look bad when there are two linebackers in the backfield within 2 seconds of the snap.  But Taylor did show some flashes, as when he threw that touchdown in the first half.

Thankfully, for the most part we kept him contained, but you could see what scouts were impressed about.
