It was the center with a bad snap.
Buncom with a nice run support there on the option.

And terrible red zone play calling.

This shitty coaching got us one of the best offenses in the county last year. I don't get why everyone is convinced the coaches are the problem when there's abundant evidence that the system can work and definitely evolves.

Why didn't Stanford call a timeout before that 3rd down?

Solomon Thomas and Jordan Watkins getting Quenton Meeks ready to go back in after getting beat for long TD
Really interesting watching the process of Quenton Meeks getting his head back ready.
He was pissed - throwing and shoving things around. Missed the extra point play. Was pacing back and forth on the sidelines and his teammates let him burn off steam and Coach Akina didn't engage his DB group. He just kept looking out to the field. Normally he engages with his DBs as soon as they get off the field.
After several minutes Meeks came back to the bench and Akina exhorted the entire group. Then it looked like he was telling Meeks to get it back - not criticizing him. It was clear Meeks was harder on himself than anyone else.
Then Meeks went down the entire bench slapping the defensive players. Then Watkins and Thomas hugged him and pumped him up.

It worked in the past but when you know it is a disaster currently through multiple games, why is there no adjustment? Keller should not be doing designed runs period

Glad to see they went for the Hail Mary on the last play. You can't score if you don't try. But I'm starting to wonder if maybe many of Burns' snap issues weren't also on the center...

I really didn't think it was bad. The first down run by Chryst was successful, got 4 yards to the 5. Running McCaffrey on 2nd down was reasonable, but the play got stuffed. Play action pass on 3rd might have been too predicable, I suppose.

Interesting, Chryst only missed 2 out of 9 passes in the first half, one of those being that Hail Mary attempt at the end. Despite that, his play has been rather underwhelming, with poor accuracy even in his completions and not great vision. At least we're winning, and there's been some nice flashes by McLovin' and others :)

stupac2 - 11-05-2016
One of Chryst's designed runs got us a first down... Those were dumb when he was coming in just to do it, but here they have all been successful plays (unless I'm forgetting one, I think there was just a conversion on third and short and four yards in first and goal).
If there's a playcall on that series that I take issue with it's coming out bunched up on third and goal from the five, I'd rather see the field spread there. But we don't know what was supposed to happen so it's hard to say if it was a bad decision.

Yes, I liked that we didn't just run out the clock and head to the locker room for halftime, as we've seen before. That drive helped Chryst, IMO.

Other than giving up that one long TD pass, our defense is just smothering the Beavers. They only have 34 yards rushing and 33 yards passing (if you take away that 75 yard blown coverage TD). They are 1 for 6 on 3rd down.
On offense, we've got 165 yards rushing in the first half. But for a couple of snap issues, we might be up by 20+ right now.

I thought Keller could have run that 2nd & 1 play for a yard once recognizing no one open . . .

Same.
Watching the OL, it seems like the interior is OK -- snap issues aside, I suppose -- and the tackles are the problem.

Three screwed-up snaps in one game. This is that sweet 2014 vintage offense.
