Tempie named recruiting coordinator after Amy has been for 30 years. Kate associate head coach then interviewing but now back.
Now guesses as to the new assistant???
Thanks for keeping us updated.
A nice story about her on ESPN, which some great quotes from Ros. Many thanks for her decades of amazing work recruiting so many amazing classes notwithstanding the brobdingnagian admissions barrier Stanford faces with the vast majority of top recruits. I'm pretty sure WBB has set the gold standard for Stanford for recruiting the very best academically eligible talent you can.

Guessing the new assistant will be a former post player to help coach the posts... wild guesses are Kayla Pederson (once Tara said she'd make a good coach) and Jayne Appel (though it sounds like she already has a good job).

Three assistants either moving on to lateral positions or, in Kate Paye's case, reported to be looking at other schools? Given Stanford's normal stability in WBB this sounds like Tara wants new blood in the program but is moving carefully given the contributions made by these coaches over her tenure. Am I misreading this?

Yes you are misreading leftcoast.  Don't forget Kate was promoted in January /February. Â
I don't know but logic tells me if USC and Washington were smart they would interview very outstanding coaches. Assistants and Head Coaches.Â

If you believe Ros, this will be a big loss. Glad she is sticking around in some capacity.
This has to be the one and only time in my history on this board that I scooped Bob. I need to go back and see the week I mentioned her retirement. And I got it from the very reliable source of....someone I happened to be sitting next to in the stands.

I wonder if Tara is trying to set the table for a transition. Of course, Tara isn't the one hiring her successor, so she can't guarantee Kate Paye anything. Still, it would be ideal if Tara has a coaching staff that has worked together for a few years before Paye is elevated so as to ensure continuity. And if Amy isn't going to be part of that process, then it makes sense for her to transition into something else, but that allows her to remain attached to the team.

I also heard as a rumor a while back that Amy might be retiring. Hmm, but it might have been you that I heard it from! :-\

Erica got drafted last night in the WNBA Draft in the second round, #17 overall to the Indiana Fever (Jeanette Pohlen's former team). Congratulations and good luck to Bird!

Official announcement that we start off next season at Ohio State and against Louisville. What a way to start the season, immediately against top tier teams without a warm up game or two against easier opponents.
Amazing that we've played Ohio State only twice before in program history and the first time was when Stanford lost and Tara won, because she was still the Buckeyes' head coach.
And amazing that we've never played Louisville before, despite them being a top program under Jeff Walz. Great to see that we are building up our non-conference schedule again. Now only if we can get that UConn series up and running again...

Oh and congrats to Karlie for signing a training camp contract with the Sparks. She'll be joined by Mikaela Ruef, who also signed a training camp contract with L.A. And of course, Nneka will help lead the team with our '08 FF foe Candace Parker defend their WNBA title. Bobbie Kelsey also joined head coach Brian Agler's staff as well, so a lot of Stanford connections and possibly even more with the Sparks.
