She had 10 points and 8 rebounds today. And yes, she is 16 and 6'3". And she has powerfully dunked in competition. Here is a video:

Currently ranked 3 in the 2019 class.Â
I can't find anything on the web about her academics or priorities for college. She dunked when she was 15. Now she's 16 and the youngest player on the U19 squad. (Alyssa is the second youngest.)

Stanford (and another school that shall not be mentioned) are dream teams for 2019 6'0" wing Breanna ("Brea") Beal.

What a great looking prospect! And she plays the cello!
We will have 4 scholarships that year. Wouldn't it be great if Beal and Amihere were both part of that class?

6'0" wingspan and plays the cello? Goodness. I'm rather intrigued...will she major/minor in music??

Think about what Tara can do pairing Beal and Amihere inside with Kiana Williams and Jenna Brown in the backcourt.

Well, the usual Stanford basketball recruit commitment rankings curse seems to have continued for us. ESPN recently revealed their
2018 HoopGurlz Top 100 and Jenna Brown has dropped from #11 to #20 since decommitting from Notre Dame and committing to us. Lexie Hull remains at #16, and Lacie remains unranked. Nelson-Ododa, one of our main targets, who is still uncommitted, is down to #5, I think(?) from #3.
It's odd how often our basketball recruits drop in the rankings subsequent to committing to Stanford. Last year Daejon Davis took a brobdingnagian hit after he decommitted from Washington and committed to us (I think he dropped around 20-30 places), and in 2014 both Dorian Pickens and Robbie Cartwright were top 100 players prior to committing, and then dropped from the rankings entirely. It's possible it's totally random, but I wonder if there's some reason they're more skeptical of Cardinal commits? It seems like Kezie Okpala is the only player I can remember in recent years whose ranking
improved after committing to the Cardinal, and his enormous late-stage growth spurt made it hard to ignore his significantly elevated potential.
Not that any of it matters in the end, but I do think it shapes pre-season hype and expectations, and I feel like we're always getting the short end of the rerankings stick.

Interesting question. I had not noticed that with Tara recruits before. I think sometimes that Tara finds and recruits players that the major ratings services miss and then they go up. Lili and Alanna maybe. The point is that Tara is a better judge of talent than most of the individuals doing the ratings--and that is one of the reasons we often perform better than the sum of our ratings might indicate.Â
I wonder if the Jenna Brown thing is related to her coming off the ACL. Was the earlier rating based on her pre-ACL form? I do confess to getting nervous about star recruits who were injured like Beebe and Wilson, since it is hard to predict how quickly and completely they might recover. Brown is apparently playing again now which is a good sign.

Carrington is certainly playing.  12 points in the first half today.
We have 15 committed for 2018 BTW.
The bracket for Vegas. I'll be there.Â

Interesting that we could potentially play Ohio State twice in the non-conference schedule. I'm not sure how good Gonzaga is this year, but given our loss against them last year, I'm sure it will be a tough one.

I'm still sad we're totally scholied up and aren't in the running for Ododa or another top post. 2018 has a bunch of them. Not so sure about '19 and we always seem to have problems getting the few who are academically qualified. If we don't get one then we're pretty much stuck with ONE post - as in Nadia. I think we're kind of bitten in the butt for taking the second Hull in order to get the better one. And we always seem to have some excess weight who never get off the bench. sigh. But the bonding pix from Italy were pretty cool. So I have hopes for a better than middling year but don't think it's realistic to hope for a F4 this year. Am I too pessimistic?
Re: Stanford WBB Recruiting 2018 -

Agree re: Ododa. Only other possible way we might land her is if one of the juniors is planning to graduate early and waiting to decide about that (see Jason Collins back in the day)? But I haven't heard anything like that.
BobK seems to think we have an inside track to for Laeticia Amihere, who's a 6'3" forward, and ESPN also lists Ramani Parker, a top 60 6'4" forward from California, as in the mix. Based Tara's statement that the only two players "not in love with the three point line" were Kayl and Dodson, I wouldn't be surprised if the plan is for Dodson to occupy the 5, given that she's a rebounding machine and she can dunk. Although she was recruited as a wing, if those are her strengths, we're knee-deep in 3 and stretch-4 players, so why not play to those strengths? Between her and Nadia, we'll have solid 5 coverage for the next 3 seasons so there's definitely time to refill in 2019 and 2020 even if we are Ododa-less in 2018.

Were the Hull sisters either coming together or not at all? I know Brit has a twin sister who goes to college and plays basketball at Seattle Pacific, so it's not Tara hasn't only chosen one sister as part of twins before.
Agreed, Ododa would have been a great addition to the lineup and to complement our other players. It is a little strange, but certainly not unwelcomed that Maya seems to be more of a 5, maybe a 4 at this point when her ESPN profile seems to hint that she was a wing coming out of high school.
With our particular depth at the 3 and 4, this development might be for the best, as it sounds like Ododa is a long shot at this point.

Ododa is not a recruit. Sorry.Â
Middling year is anything not a final 4? Wow.Â
I have seen both Hulls three times and love them both. Yes one is a bit better but it took me a whole game to determine which was which. I purposely didn't look at who was who as I wanted to determine independent of the experts ð Â
