ROSEN HAD THE GRADES AND BOARDS, THAT WASN'T THE ISSUE HERE, IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WERE DRIVING AT. I ACCEPT YOUR ANECDOTE AS COMPLETELY PLAUSIBLE BTW.

Never been a fan of "just win, Baby". It's too often used to excuse things that shouldn't be excused.
I don't pretend to know much about Rosen but I know a lot about Coach Shaw and I trust his judgement. Even if this choice turns out to be a mistake - and how can we ever know? - he's earned my trust.Â
For fans the late Al Davis quote - You might notice he wins a lot too.

HE'S A GREAT COACH, BUT HE'S NOT INFALLIBLE. HE WAS THUMBS DOWN ON LUCK IN FAVOR OF ANOTHER QB ACCORDING TO A GUY WHO WAS IN THE ROOM WHEN THOSE RECRUITING DECISIONS WERE BEING DISCUSSED AS A STAFF. AND IF THERE'S ONE THING THAT CONCERNS ME ABOUT SHAVITAGREN, IT'S THEIR QB RECRUITING DECISIONS AND FAILURE TO DEVELOP A SUCCESSION PLAN FOR HOGAN, WHO THEY STARTED NUNES AHEAD OF....KIND OF LIKE THE GOP WHO HAS 7 YEARS TO COME UP WITH A REPLACEMENT FOR ACA...BUT I DIGRESS

It's well known that Luck was our third QB offer that year. Whatever Shaw's opinion was, the buck ultimately stops at the top. After all, Shaw's boss had played the position, and his was the only opinion that counted.

The issue is that there were probably 30,000 applicants who had the grades and the boards in Rosen's year, and if he were a potential world class violinist rather than a potential world class NFL QB, his chances of being admitted were slim, like all the other top 30,000 applicants in his cohort.

If what you are saying is that very few (if any) football players on the current roster would have been admitted without football, that's certainly true. However, as far as news is concerned that's right up there with Lee surrendered to Grant or the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.
From what I understand about Luck's credentials, he might have been one of the few that would have been. Not sure about Rosen, but have a feeling he might have been too.

You didn't. With all due respect, I just didn't see much point in stating a fact that virtually all of us have known for decades now.

I agree, but if Rosen outplays Chryst in our game with them this year, prepare for another onslaught.

If we win, who cares? Counterfactual speculation is just that.

To be fair to Rosen, our QB's supporting cast is better, even though his was more highly recruited.
