School where school has actually started: 27
School where school has yet to start: 20

Rosen leads 4th quarter drive to seal the deal and sends the board into a full on meltdown.

Quote:University of Stanford was pretty bad.  In my defense I hadn't yet had the morning coffee and was feeling not only gloomy, but fogged.

Regardless, Go Cardinals!

Referring to the team as "Cardinals" does little to atone for the awful "University of Stanford." Maybe a few more cups of joe--or something stronger. Sorry, but Cardinals???????

Re: UCLA predictions - Extra Point - 09-19-2017

Stanford  35
UCLA      27

Entered on form.

I think that was the joke.

That was my assumption as well, but it is the same person who wrote “university of Stanford” straightfaced, so I await clarification.

Really? Well, duh on me. I think since I have left urban life behind, I am less attuned to subtle sarcasm/plays on words, etc. Just an Oregon hick, I guess, though I remain a steadfast Card Fan. Maybe we can do some set-up jokes and I can be the straight man: No, really, who's on first?

Not going to wait for Trevmiesterj to bail me out on this one

Re: UCLA predictions - CowboyIndian - 09-19-2017

From Wikipedia....for those of you whose memories don't extend that far back:

From 1972 to 1981, the official nickname was the Cardinals, a reference to the color, not the bird.

On November 17, 1981, school president Donald Kennedy declared that the athletic teams be represented by the color cardinal in its singular form

Re: UCLA predictions - Snorlax94 - 09-19-2017

My predictions have been extraordinarily consistent this season in a very bad way -- I have been off  by 30+ points in 3/3 predictions. So I was leaning toward a very close game, something like 24-27, but then I decided this week I would take my prediction, assume i would be off by 30 points, and then enter that as my prediction.

So if I really wanted to predict Stanford by 3, I have to go either UCLA by 27+ (40-10), or I have to go Stanford by 33+.

So, with that explanation for this admittedly crazy entry,

Stanford, somehow, 54-21

Entered on the form

Re: UCLA predictions - ADPATERSON - 09-19-2017

Until Shaw loses to Mora, I'm going with Shaw.  Bruins are the salve.  A 1-3 start would just be too ugly.
Losing Barton is a knock, but at a position where we have depth.  Alfieri, Okereke, Palma pick up slack.
Kalambayi, Toohill, Tyler, Murphy, Robinson and the DL need to rise up and sack Rosen.
Less worried about the secondary.  We need hurries and INTs.  Like the Sun Bowl, our Def must score points.

Bruins look as imbalanced as WAST so far, with 1327 yds passing, and just 365 rushing.  G E T  R O S E N.

Cardinal 34
Bruins  31

Re: UCLA predictions - oman - 09-19-2017

Stanford 47
UCLA 24

Re: UCLA predictions - SUBuddha - 09-20-2017

Buddha Sr. and I will be at the game, so they have to win right? :(

Stanford 36
UCLA 26
in the form.

Re: UCLA predictions - fullmetal - 09-20-2017

Stanford 21
UCLA 17

Akina works a miracle, and Bryce Love gets a few slivers of daylight through which he works his magic.  Lance Anderson confuses UCLA with "blitzes the Bruins hadn't seen before."

Re: UCLA predictions - JJJ - 09-20-2017

For the third straight week, I'm going with:

LSJU 38
Opponent 30

(entered in google form.)

*This is 2 days old but we were favored (or favrotied) by 9.5 according to these guys:

Re: UCLA predictions - Renaissance Man - 09-21-2017

UCLA      28

Re: UCLA predictions - washingtonismoney - 09-21-2017

[spins wheel]
Stanford... 31?
[spins wheel]
UCLA... 23?

Sure, why not.

Re: UCLA predictions - BostonCard - 09-21-2017

I have a hard time seeing how our defense can hold Rosen to under 31 points.
I have a hard time seeing how our offense can score more than 24 points.

I am feeling pessimistic.

A lot of Cardinal-colored glasses out there. The spread has Stanford favored by 7.5 😲

Re: UCLA predictions - bbm233 - 09-21-2017

Us - 17
Them - 28

But Bryce Love continues to be a bright spot with another 150+ on the ground.

Well, this is the Cardboard.  I'd hate to see a lot of baby blue colored glasses around here.

Qwerty is referring to the Las Vegas spread, in which Stanford is favored by over a touchdown.  So outside of our little group, there appears to be general optimism about Stanford.  Personally, I'm not convinced it is merited, but I am hopeful that they have seen something that I have not.
