Then why not start him sooner? The only possibility is if he has progressed much faster than we expected and/or he had lingering effects of his injury and hes now recovered.

Or "the other guys are worse than we expected." Although Costello has looked fine so who knows? Bob could also just be yanking our collective chain.

Hmm, I don't know when the depth chart is typically released, but seems like there's a delay this week? Interesting... very interesting. Definitely think that Chryst is no longer the starting QB. Now, Mills or Costello?

Being a bit of a worrier, I worry that one or more of our QBs has left the program :(. I guess it could just be a re-ranking of the candidates, or something like that, but whatever it is, the fact it wasn't announced as Ho-Hum has me concerned. Starting Costello instead of Chryst would be "interesting" but not totally remarkable/unexpected. You can always change back if it doesn't work, little harm done (hopefully). However, if Mills is now considered better than Chryst or Costello, that would be a real shocker, especially to them! OTOH, I don't see a reason to burn Mill's red shirt just to be a back-up, unless something really unexpected is going on.

Wow. That would be hard to square with what we've seen of Costello, which has been mostly very positive, if limited. Feel for him, unless there's something we are still not hearing about, injury or discipline related.

Tomorrows FB Live of the 11:30 media luncheon is becoming must-see TV! Possibly even bigger than, Who shot JR? Or the finale of Lost (SPOILER ALERT.......... theyre all dead people, just like we always thought.)
Theres a reason Costello didnt play - and yet he looked completely dialed into the game on the sidelines, uninjured, ready and waiting! Hmmm.Â
Or... will this turn out to be like the Lost finale, much ado about nothing?!

My $.02 worth:
I recall Shaw saying that you need three QB's ready to play.
I would assume part of Mills's developmental process is being on the sidelines at games to see how things operate.
If Mills is anywhere near as good as we have been led to believe, I think the chances of him being around for five years are pretty slim.
At the same time, playing him now would seem to be very out of character for Shaw.

If Shaw were undeicided on starting QB he could simply list "Keller Chryst OR KJ Costello"

I just took off my tin hat, and voices have told me that Coach Shaw didn't use Costello or Mills in Corvallis because he didn't want to have anything on tape for WSU, Udub, laC or votredame to prepare for.
Costello will start against Wazoo and stay in if Shaw can make just few enough stupid mistakes to keep the score close. Millls will start against Udub and put up 400+ yds, 4 TDs and no ints in a massive rout. Chryst, Burns and Tyler will rotate vs. laC in an easy win. Costello will come out of purdah to decimate votredame. As for the repeat of the Troejams....
