Herbstreit mentioned exactly that on the Pack show on ESPNU the other day.

I know he is paid to make noise, but talking about our path to CFP strikes me as preposterously irrelevant given our record and the next few games.

Re: Costello to Start? - ThePassionOfTheChryst - 11-02-2017

I'm a layman when it comes to this kind of stuff but it would seem to be in the best interest of ESPN to keep the maximum number of fan bases believing their team still has a "path to the CFP." Keeps more people tuning in to listen to hot takes.

POC

Agree with you from the ESPN perspective.    Just feel it misses the mark from our perspective

CFP is theoretically possible if we go 5-0, but I'm focused on being 1-0 tomorrow.

Agree. The next game is a real barometer of where Stanford is as a team. WSU is, or at least was, good but not "Elite". We need to beat a team like that to have any business discussing CFP.

Re: Costello to Start? - BostonCard - 11-03-2017

1) Engagement on speculation about the CFP is silly for a team with two losses.
2) That being said, 538 gives us roughly a coin toss chance (56%) of making the playoff if we win out.
3) And/but we have to win out and they only give us a 6% chance of doing that.

WE should focus on the things we can control, and as of right now we can control our fate in the race to win the P12 conference.

All the more reason to bitch about it when it doesn't go so well. . .
