Re: WBB: Exhibition vs. UCSD - 81alum - 11-05-2017

Ohio State wound up winning 135-54 over hapless Urbana today.  It will be interesting to see how they do against a real defense.  Holding them under 100 probably is within reason.  But can we score more than 60 against Ohio State when we scored only 60 against UCSD?

For anyone concerned about Britney's ankle..  she'll be ok.

Thanks Biketoc, I was hoping.  She was looking a little gimpy but not too unhappy, as your picture shows, by the end.

Not only is she often our best offensive player, she is currently the most fun to watch, especially around the basket.  I would miss not having her out there!

Good to hear. We need all the firepower and experience on Friday and Sunday opening against two Top-5 teams if we are to stand a chance of pulling off the upsets or even be competitive.

ESPN has a couple of rankings of note:

In the ESPNW pre-season poll, we are the highest ranked Pac-12 team at #6, followed by #8 Oregon, #12 UCLA, #22 Oregon State, #23 Ca.l and interestingly #25 Arizona State.

In the Class of 2018 recruiting ranks, we have the highest regarded haul at #8, Oregon State at #14 and Arizona at #15. If the Wildcats can translate that promise to the court, it will be one less "easy win" during conference play.

Arizona rankings exclude McDonald a starter at Washington who transferrrf to Arizona and a wonderful 5 star foreign post

Charlie Creme also has us as a #1 seed in his first Bracketology of the season, joining UConn, Baylor and Texas.

UCLA is a #3 seed, Oregon is surprisingly a #4 seed, Arizona State is slated at #5, Ca.l is a #6 seed, and Oregon State at #7

With such optimism from the national media, are they thinking that we win more games than we (as fans) are projecting? Or because of our tough schedule, these losses to elite teams won't hurt us as much with the selection committee?

How can you have a bracketology before the season even starts?

In this day and age, you have next season's predictions before the confetti is cleaned up from the current champion's celebrations.

I guess he is projecting how he thinks the season will turn out

Re: WBB: Exhibition vs. UCSD - 81alum - 11-08-2017

I like Charlie.  He admits his first bracket is "way too early" and just for fun, really, much like any pre-season poll.

The other thing to know about him is that he has very, very, very consistently liked Stanford and routinely overestimates where/at what level we should be placed in the brackets.  The prognosticators can lapse over to become lobbyists for their favorite teams, and Charlie sometimes is guilty of that--in our favor.
