Since the question was asked, I'm going on the record as saying we can beat UW, ןɐɔ, and ND. Sure, we'll need "Good Stanford" to show up each and every week, but  I'm going to believe it can be done, until proven otherwise.  8)

we did beat a highly ranked UW team in 1982......

And as luck would have it, I happened to be in attendance then! :)
*yeah, I know that makes me old...

Me too!  Did you see Dot make that big run?  I forgot how fast he was.  Dot was my roommate when I was going to law school in LA.  He was playing for the Raiders at the time.  He got a nice Superbowl ring out of that job.

Why we underperform so badly on the road, especially with Oline play, is something we need to assess, but for now I feel pretty good about our chances against Cal and even UW i think will be a toss up.

The Irish worry me a great deal, however, because their style, pound the ball with a strong between the tackles running game to set up the pass, is exactly what we struggle to defend this year, especially if our offense isn’t sustaining drives well. The teams that we’ve had better defensive showings against have generally been pretty one dimensional, partially due to a combo or bad QBs and injuries.

What's the status of their RB? I saw someone say he left their game but didn't hear if he came back.

Something tells me, CI, you might have been in attendance w/ me when we clinched the conference championship in a great game featuring Jim Plunkett vs Sonny Sixkiller.

I was at that game. ‘70 will always be my favorite season.

I was always sorry I missed that one (and season), but I was on an all-expense paid cruise to the South China Sea courtesy of Uncle Sam.
