The first quarter ends TOSU 27 Stanford 24.
Our offense has looked great--lots of long passes and fast breaks, much attacking at the rim. McPhee has hit a number of difficult mid range jumpers. She is 5/7 for 10 points.
Our defense has obviously not been sharp. TOSU is 5/7 from three point range. Mitchell is 4/9 for 10 points.
We are being competitive and this is fun to watch. It would be nice to stop those treys.
We have already played 10 players. Clearly Vanderveer is trying to push the pace against a depleted TOSU team.

Stanford down 46-40 at the half. Getting killed on the boards. Ohio St has 13 offensive rebounds. McPhee hit a half court shot at the end of the 2nd quarter and has 17 points. Carrington and Smith have 6 each, 5 for Jerome.
Ohio State has four players with 9 points or more led by Mitchell with 14. Mavunga has 11 boards already.

At the half it is TOSU 46 Stanford 40.
McPhee made a half court trey at the buzzer or it would be worse. She already has 17.
Our offense slowed down some in the 2nd quarter. Smith missed a couple of layups. One nice thing--Jerome made a trey and a two showing that this freshman can play. Vanderveer has played 11.
Our big issue is the failure to box out and prevent TOSU from getting O-boards. They have 13 to our 4. Also problematic is our inability to stop their treys. They have 7 of 18 compared with our 2/5. TOSU getting O-boards and treys more than accounts for their lead.
The announcers said we were sometimes playing a match-up zone. Perhaps that accounts for some of the rebounding problems. Sniezek is actually leading our rebounding with 5.
All that said, we are playing so much better than the exhibition. McPhee is a joy to watch. We need better rebounding and a few putbacks from Smith to get into this game again.
Something to watch--TOSU has only 11 on the roster. Three of their starters have 2 fouls. If the refs call this close we should have the edge in the second half.

The third quarter has started disastrously. TOSU has slowed us down by pressing to force us into half court sets, which have looked pretty stagnant. Our defense has been poor. Mavunga has been eating us up and SMith and others are collecting fouls. Touch game for Smith who is 3/9 with 3 rebounds, working against Mavunga who is 5/11 with 15 rebounds. We trail 58-44 at this point, and we need to do something different inside or it will get worse.

We are being outrebounded 48-32, and we have still made only 2 treys. You can't be the Warriors with those stats. So after three quarters, we are down 70-54, and Smith just left with a knee issue.
Sniezek is still our best rebounder. Remember when Kaylee was a freshman and she was a rebounding machine? What happened to that? Our 4 bigs have 4 rebounds between all of them.
Not a lot to go on, but Fingall is not finishing well around the basket. Dodson has made a couple of freshman mistakes but did finish well around the basket once, with the arced back that does remind me of the Ogwumikes. Jerome is a good shooter, but I haven't been able to tell how her defense is. Sniezek doesn't look any more offensive than ever although she has had some pretty passes.
