Gil Brandt prized smarts and those mid/late 1970s Cowboys teams had a number of Stanford players on them - Laidlaw, Pat Donovan, Blaine Nye, Tony Hill and Benny Barnes most notably.

And he drafted several more Stanford guys who didn't stick for one reason or another. Ron Kadziel and Steve Jubb come to mind.
