By comparison, though, Vanderbilt has 2 players into the quarterfinals of the championship bracket, in addition to another player in the consolation QF.
They can put any trophies from this event in the display case right next to the NCAA runner up trophy from last spring.

It's livin' in the past that my comment was meant to address, Spiny! I suspect some fans (but not the team) think that since we won it last year and have everyone back, it's a foregone conclusion we're gonna do it again. It ain't, and our results bear that out. Emily is at 4-6 6-4 and 1-1 in the third set. Seems pretty even so far :)
Meanwhile, 4 of our other players are playing today in championship matches of the main or consolation brackets in singles and doubles at San Diego State Invitational.
edit: and Emily wins the third set 6-2! Congrats to her! We did not come away empty-handed.

What a great result for Emily. Her first singles title of any sort in college, I believe!
